I find the staff at our local Lidl very helpful and friendly.

I personally find the staff no better or worse in my two local lidls than anywhere else.

I see it as part of the getting it cheaper deal, if your expecting a large customer services department and that side is the most important part of your shop when you go i would advise you to stick at your current supermarket. If you value/price/quality then shop at lidl/aldi.

Oh and if your going to moan and ask for the manager i would not bother....chances are they are either serving you or stacking shelves! :)

Honestly ive found them no worse than elsewhere. With the stores being quieter than the larger supermarkets some of the staff should remember to keep things quiet:

"oh great, him who takes half an hour to decide to buy a can of beans just walked in"

"Such and such will get on better than us here just because she can speak German"

also, Manager moaning in one store about the other local store: "Great, we have twice the customers but half the floor space than them.." (guess which store i go to now when the specials come in that will sell out quickly, yep the quieter one).
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

    I love my LIDL.

Since getting the car (expense I know but vital), it has saved my a huge amount of money. No more distractions - pretty shiny supermarket stuff.

I can go in there with a list and stick to it as I know there is really nothing else to tempt me.

The staff have always been friendly, and it generally does what it says on the tin.

Cheap and cheerful - does ok for me. ;)

  • Since discovering MSE I've been a Lidl fan:T . Not only have I cut down drastically on my shopping bills but going there is a pleasant experience. Admittedly it's no-frills and the loading of trollies at the checkout is a tad rushed but it's no worse than the pressure I used to put myself under at Tesco when loading a big shop with a huge queue behind me at the checkouts:eek:

All the staff at my 2 local Lidl branches are really helpful and friendly, as are the ones at Netto. haven't been to an Aldi so can't comment. Maybe it's just round here where people are more helpful as Asda staff are wonderful too:j Having said that though, Tesco staff are unbelievably rude and short with people. I was a huge Tesco fan until they massively extended /upgraded the store. Presumably it's all the new staff members who are not very pleasant. I go there as little as possible now.
  • I too find that Netto's are rude - I got so annoyed the woman on the checkout threw the stuff including glass jars down the belt and then grunted "i'm having a bad day" I thought I'd care but the way you're putting the vibes out! Luckily my dad works in Asda and he helps out with food bill with discount and is amazing by footing some of the bill if not all of it sometimes - so I only have to go in occasionally.
