Mobile phone - diverting calls?

Hi,

I have two Orange Pay-As-You-Go SIMS as I need to use two different numbers for different purposes.

Until now I have been carrying around two mobile phones with me. Call me behind the times.... but I've just discovered an option on the phone to "divert calls" and it allows me to put in a number to divert to. So it seems I could send the calls from one phone to the other.

I just wondered if this is reliable in people's experience and also if there is an additional charge involved to the caller or to me for using this diversion service.

When people ring is there just a message to say the call is being diverted?

Pls excuse my lack of knowledge on this...

Many thx.

Alternatively you can have 2 lines on one Orange phone-though I'm not sure this applies to PAYG.

    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • There will be no message to say that the call is being diverted.

The number you divert will have to have credit on it and you will have to store contacts in both phones which may prove difficult if your wife is with you and the mistress calls!
    end the tv tax
  • Hi,

Thanks for the replies - including the last one, very amusing! Nothing like that I can assure you!!

So I need to have credit on the SIM number which I am diverting to another number - does that mean there is a charge for doing this then? Is there also an extra charge for the person who rings the number and whose call is diverted?

    Many thx in advance.

You cant use Call Divert to another phone, mobile or landline, on any PAYG Network ,unless you happen to be a Family Mobile customer. Contract yes but not PAYG.

If you could you would pay for the diverted leg of the call, and the original caller would pay the normal amount for the call.
  • Thank you Billsavings, I hadn't actually tried it - thought it was too good to be true....

Guess I'll just have to carry on lugging about two mobiles....

 A phone that has two sims, different numbers, and you control which is in use, the other will usualy take messages. I think!!! worth asking about in your situation i think.

    Hi

Many thanks Hapmax. I had heard about this option but assumed that it only works with contract rather than pay-as-you-go - please does anyone know any more about this and whether it would work with PAYG?

    Many thx.

It works with any phone, and any network. Your two SIMS fit into the same (modified) slot. Each time the phone is turned off and on again, the phone toggles between SIM 1 and SIM 2. They're sold on eBay - just seatch for 'Dual SIM adaptor'.

The downside, is that anyone calling the SIM that is NOT active, gets Voicemail, and you won't know unless you switch SIMs. They cost under a tenner.
