All right mate, there's no need to be so harsh, I realised I have messed up and npw I am wondering what my options are, perhaps you shouldn't be so judgemental0 -

What does it actually say on your credit file?
If there are charges you should claim these back and if the default amount is higher or equal to what you claim back then you have a case for having the default removed. In any event if you are claiming back charges that are included in the default amount you should have the default amount reduced to reflect the actual debt.
Should that not be the other way round as in what you claim back is higher than the debt?0 -
Because mortgages are secured on a property, the 'rules' for mortgages are somewhat different from those of unsecured credit... so a mortage company is often more concerned about how much your deposit is and how much your salary is.... you may well end up paying a higher interest rate for a couple of years ...
Having said that its impossible to guess where the mortgage market will be in a couple of years time.
However, nothing on this thread suggests you have messed up your life.. just a little tempory difficulty.

I think you are over dramatising the situation.
As I 've explained you can try to get the default removed as you didn't receive it...
if there are issues about charges and fees then that may make the situation easier to resolve but you haven't really given any details of your situation.
And you will probably be able to get a mortage but you may pay a interest rate premium for a year or two.
Ok not the best but doesn't seem that bad to me.EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%

I dont have the information as I did live there and didn't tell the credit card company where I had moved to! Would I still be able to get this history if I contcted them, I have seen letter templates used for people to claim that they didn' receive notices of the default etc? Would this be the same letter to use to get my history.
I used equifax to get my credit history not the most detailed report!0 -
Its worth getting the all three credit agency reports.. the statutory paper copies only cost £2 each.
To challenge the default notice you need to write to the CC company that isssued the default.EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%

Yes - what does your file actually say?
As yo uare paying off today as well is it with a dca or credit card company?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
yes, you'll get a mortgage with 1 default. No, you probably won't get a High Street one. When I split with my partner 5 years ago I had 2 defaults and a CCJ. I got a mortgage - it was a sub prime cacky one with GMAC but I got one, then moved to a better one 18 months ago when I onlyhad the CCJ and since becoming debt free and all the poor credit dropping off my file I'm now in a position to get a high street one in 2010.
It's not the end of the world, you'll just end up paying a higher interest rate on your mortgage until the default drops off and you work your way back up to a prime product rather than a sub prime one.
