hi all
friends lappy problems
lappy would freeze once it was fully opened,,
ive removed a load of crap used c cleaner,defraged eth
now works quite well,,
the problem now is ....it has found my wireless network but i cant launch internet
trys for a few seconds then stops
has she deleted it ??
or could it be a missing linc???
she had no sec for 6months :eek: but seems to have got away with it their doesn't appear to be a virus on it however need to get get on the net to get sec cover,,,,
any ideas??
please keep it non-technical if poss

Plug in via ethernet then ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')

Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
What actually happens when you try to launch the net? It 'tries' then what?:idea:0

logo highlights spiny symbol appears then stops thats it
what dif will it make ,,,connecting the cable direct???

Connecting directly will get the 'wireless' part out of the way. Its got much more of a chance connecting via an ethernet cable than it has connecting wirelessly. If it doesnt connect with an ethernet cable then id guess its badly infected
Once connected via ethernet we can then (hopefully) determine exactly what the problem is:idea:0 -

int exp now launches
but sits on open page saying connecting

Reboot and keep pressing F8 until the 'safe mode selection screen' pops up
Select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
