Kwik Save Closing?

3 local Kwik Saves in Stoke on Trent have closed today as I think they have gone into liquidation.

Whether this means the shops have closed instantly or there are closing down bargains to be had I'm not sure.

Kwik Save is part of Somerfield. And they have been shutting branches down for months.

In my local town we had both a Kwik save and a somerfield but they shut the kwiksave down and that was back in August.

I think if Kwik save/Somerfield had gone in to liquidation it would have have hit the head lines big time and it would be on yahoo and bbc news seeing as it has not. It is what has already been said. They are streamlining the business and getting rid of stores.

Kwik save have been sold to peacocks, and today they had a meeting with all the staff, it only affects some stores, as peacocks will keep some open and close some. it will be the case when there are a somerfield and a kwik save in the same town, mine was closed today too, and will also be officially closed end of march, so some big discounts on its way.

    posted something up earlier.
  • According to the Sentinel (Stoke-on-Trent local newspaper), Tunstall, Chell, Milton, Cheadle, Burslem and some others were closed.

From my understanding, of the 400+ stores, some of the badly performing stores have been closed, 102 have been retained by Sommerfield and will be converted into Sommerfield stores, another 77 have been sold to various stores, including the likes of Netto and Lidl. The Kwik Save name and 177 remaining stores have been purchased by BTTF Ltd, who plan to continue running the stores under the Kwik Save brand!

List of stores, as of today, can be found at http://www.kwiksave.co.uk/listofstores.htm
  • Only went in the Tunstall one yesterday, thought the shelves looked a bit bare, oh well.
