That is very interesting. Mind I think both kwik save and Somerfield are hardly runners to get in the top 3 supermarkets. But they have there niches.
Shame they shut the local one down as it meant I could get both lots of bargains and either end of town.

I work for a Somerfield depot and can confirm that BTTF has bought Kwik save. (although just under a hundred have been retained by Somerfield to rebrand.
BTTF is a company which has specifically been set up to operate these stores. Who owns BTTF is unclear on the memo I saw.
Someone put that Somerfield is unlikely to challenge the top supermarkets. Watch this space. The new owners are going through EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb, they are shutting 2 warehouses (Welwyn and Rainham) and have mooted the idea that Wellingborough Warehouse may close too!!
Within a couple of years, Somerfield will be a lean mean fighting machine and will, I suspect, gain a lot of popularity."A goldfish left Lincoln logs in me sock drawer!"

Sorry, but i must disagree - i used to work with SF, and i think they are possibly the most poorly run supermarket chain of them all, new management or no.
They may well never die out, but will be best compared to the co-ops of the world.
A top 3 player they will NEVER be. Mark my words. The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.
