Attention: Garmin I3 Streetpilot Owners with v7 maps

Incidentally, I called Garmin this morning and was told that the upgrade won't be available until after the second week of March.

How do i know which version i have?

Look at the bottom of your box. If the first line says it contains "MapSource City Navigator NT" map data then its version 8. v7 boxes actually state v7 on the first line. v8 boxes also have v8 printed by the box barcode. If you have lost your box, power up your I3 and look at the map menu in "settings"

very nice but i just paid £180 for the v8 street pilot from argos at the weekend i know i could have gone to staples and got it for £120 but i realy wanted it to have v8 so hey ho

Lots of people got v8 from Staples and Somerfield, its the GPS lottery. Probably why Garmin are doing these free updates. They can't help it if a wholesaler keeps a device on a shelf long enough for a new map release to come out before it hits a retail outlet.

I went Lancaster Argos yesterday and asked to view one and it was v7. The woman wouldnt let me look at any others saying they were identical. She offered to tell me the next delivery date but as stated above, they wouldn't know any road (no pun intended).

thank you greyster for that info, I got one from somerfield and there is a small "v8" printed vertically next to the barcode, so it appears i aleady have the latest version!

Just picked mine up today from Staples (£119 to price-match Halfords, taking into account £10 voucher Halfords are offering at the mo.). With your info. I was able to check box and now know that it is version 8.
The only problem I'm having - and it's a v. silly one - is that I can't get it to go on the mount. The technical bits seem to be working fine, just the ball and socket thingy. Probably just me!

Aha - done it - was being too gentle!!
