We had a letter from our current lender today (YBS) saying that they had sent out a redemption figure so it looks like it's all going ahead.

We had a boat load of trouble with YBS when we tried to change our deal long before it had gone through but they didn't want to talk to us at all and didn't reply to any correspondence.

The letter asks us to contact them to 'see what they can do'.

I've been very impressed how quickly they've worked, they are even assuming the Mortgage being set up for 1st May...which I feel is a bit optimistic but fingers crossed.

Well I've just got off the phone to the solicitors appointed by A&L. They needed my debit card details to pay off the balance owed to Nationwide between what I have borrowed from A&L/what I shall owe this THURSDAY, a week earlier than they anticipated!

Can't believe it has actually been this smooth & fast. The solicitor said his firm will write to me when it completes and reckons A&L will write within 10 working days to confirm 1st payment details & refund of my valuation. Fingers crossed (again) I'm not tempting fate at this late stage!

Forgive me please - I couldn't face reading the entire thread! I did read some of the first page and this page. I checked A&L and I can't see a 5 year 3.99% deal. Has it now been withdrawn?

Just a bit nervous - I'm on the verge of completing with Chelsea on 4.19% for 5 years, and really, really don't want to find out there's a better deal out there!

Think that A&L deal was pulled a little while ago.

    Thanks!

I'm annoyed to have just discovered the my current lender (Darlington BS) have JUST introduced a 3.99% fix. They didn't have that when I was shopping around a couple of weeks ago.

However, it's only fixed for 2 years and still has a fee of about £999, I think, so even if they had offered me it I would have preferred the 5 year deal.
  • guys one more thing...A&L calulates interest monthly...(and not on daily balances like say the halifax) ..this means that if we make our mortgage payments on the 1st of each month they keep it interest free till the end of the month
DOESNT THIS MEN THAT WE SHOULD SCHEDULE OUR PAYMENT DATE FOR THE END OF THE MONTH???

have people who took the A+L 3.99% 5 year fix had a A+L bank account setup for them yet aspart fo the agreement to get the fix rate deal ,

only I dont seem to have as yet and my mortgage is meant to be transfered today ,

im sure they said someone would call to set it up for me ?
  • cbrpaul, mine is meant to be getting transferred today too! I had the phonecall re setting up a bank account (see my post #234) probably two weeks ago now.
I'd suggest giving their customer services heldesk a call (0844 800 1144) to chase them up on this.

I'm pretty sure they said to me that it was MY responsibility to set up the account... anyhow.

But i believe the first mortgage payment to A+L wont be until 1st June 09 though for all of May and with part April's interest added also ,
