OS Daily Monday 23rd March 2009

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 23rd March. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Hi Guys!

I honestly can't remember the last time I started this, but thought as I have been up a while....why not?

Had a rough night and didnt sleep too good again. No hospital visits today but have the nurse coming around 8am.

DD managed to get all the cutting in done for the painting yesterday and says that she will finish when she gets in from school today. She has done a good job so far and there is hardly any paint anywhere except where it shoud be...on the walls:D

WM is on atm and DW will go on after breakfast. Got sausages out last night for dinner tonight. Not sure whether to have Toad In hole or just sausage & mash:confused:

Have quite a few different calls to make today regarding different matters and they really take the stuffing out of me, so may do half today then the rest tomorrow.

We have decided to look for a cheap or second hand wood burning fire for the lounge as we can easily get free wood and should cut our gas bills by at least 40-50%. Maybe it will be better waiting till the weather is hotter and nobody is thinking of the cold...then the prices should drop;)

Anyway, I hope everyone is well.

Hugs to all.

  • Morning Penny-pincher and all who follow.
Thankyou all for your kind words yesterday re my DS. He did, in fact, pop in late in the day with a bunch of flowers, so all is not lost. I cling to the belief that one day he will see what is happening and be able to form his own opinion of what is going on. Until then, he knows that our door is always open....

Meanmarie how awful for you all and what a tragic way for young pup to go. When I was about 10 (many years ago now:rotfl: dad left the garden gate open and our lab, Nelson, got out on to the road. I can still remember my grief and his guilt to this day). Love to you all...:A

Well, only two more weeks of Dragon Knickers then freedom:T Am looking forward to my new job and so excited to be cooking all day!!

OS-wise, WM on, DW on. One load of washing to go on the line before we go to w**k. Lunch will be HM bread (made in the moskie!) with cheese and salad. Dinner will probably be roast chicken that we should have had yesterday stretched over the next day or two. We had a lovely meal with DM and DF at the pub and even brought home a doggie bag for the springies - how MSE is that:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a lovely day peeps - only 4 more get-ups til the weekend:T

Morning PP and Lillibet :hello: and everyone else :hello:

    Meanmarie  hug.gif
    Taplady :hello: :D

Today is the first day of my hideaway fortnight :D I'm going to spend an hour or two planning it, I have a day-to-a-page A4 diary and I intend to fill it with 'appointments' of things just for me :D Then I'm going to make up a pamper box which will be used every other day. By then it'll be lunchtime, after lunch I'm going to disappear down the garden to sort out my strawberries, do a bit of weeding and admire my salad leaves (which are 1" tall at the mo, lol)

I might put some washing in to soak, if I can be bothered :D

First things first - get rid of this tooth abscess

    Morning,

Feels cold here & it's very windy. The forecast is for pouring down rain so it lookds like the end of pegging out for a few days. At least the garden's looking nice after my efforts last week.
I'm in today cleaning through after the weekend's onslaught. Soup for lunch & old faithful spag bol for dinner with lots of grated hidden veggies in it for the kids lol!

    Good Morning everyone

Its wet and windy here today but bizarrely its warmer than yesterday though

My house resembles a florist shop this morning as I have four big vases of lovely flowers.A vase full from each of the tinies and I got a Dumbo cuddly toy all wrapped up and looking proper posh from ED.I do think though there is a lot of pressure on mothers day,but it was nice to get the flowers and the attention that went with them

YD has speech therapy this morning and I'd forgotten.I was planning a lovely leisurely day at home just pottering round and amusing YS.But now I have to brave the wind and the rain. But on the plus side the sessions are doing her the world of good

I've got a couple of loads to wash and dry and the usual dusting and vacuuming.I was hoping to get an hour on the wii fit later but not sure If I'll have the time now.I have some ice cream to make later as I found Elmlea in Morrisons yesterday at 2 pots for £1

I'm making Chicken Wraps for tea with salad and chips to accompany them. Its Eton Mess for pud which always goes down well.

PP-Hope the day improves after your rough night

Lillibet-As they say patience is a virtue and I'm sure your son will eventually realise what is happening and things will get better. Not much help at the moment but at least you can look at the flowers and see that he really does love his mum

    Morning all,

Marie, I am so sorry to hear about your doggie, I hope your gs is ok when he wakes up, big hugs to you all xx

Looks a bit cloudy here today, meant to be getting worse as the week goes on, I hope that was not our summer  .

Lots to do today, I need to have a good clean and tidy through, at least two washes to go on, which will have to go on the airer, need to do an online shop, and I am going to go through the house and touch up any chipped little bits of paintwork which need doing.

Yesterday I ended up making a tray bake lemon drizzle cake, 20 lemon drizzle cup cakes and a batch of cookies, the LD cake is yummy :T , so will be doing that again.

I also need to do an online shop, and an hour on my wii, it has been a bit neglected over the weekend, but we do get out walking a lot, so I am hoping I have not put on too much :o

Well better get on, have good days all xx
  • Morning all

colder today, but looks sunny/blowy so must get some washing out on the line before I go anywhere.
Got cold pork left from yesterday, so that will be sandwich filling for today. Supper will be pasta carbonara I think & I have a garlic bread in the fridge my mum brought down to go with it.

MMarie, what a terrible shame :( (((hugs)))
PenPin, my vote is for toad-in-the-hole!!! mmmmm
And JustPeyton, yesterday can't have been easy for you honey.
Lliliibet, I'm glad your day ended on a happier note - I know that deep down (under what behaviour they actually show) kids do see what is going on & appreciate things.....
Tru, a pamper fortnight - wow - what a fabulous idea.
Ravylesley I lurve Eton Mess, can I come for pudding?!!
Edit to say Redruby - I'll be at yours for the cake before I go to RL's for pudding.... I am drooling now...

Anyhow, better get up & moving... I'd much rather stay in bed today!!!
Have a good day all & ((((hugs)))) for all needing them.

    Good Morning All

(((hugs))) to whoever needs one, didnt get on here yesterday, will try and catch up later.

Had a lovely but tiring weekend, seems that i have had a week of birthday celebrations so its definately back to normal now. House needs a good clean & the ironing pile is threatening to topple!

Need to do a couple of essential things in the office first thing, then OH & I are off to a client to discuss big changes that will be happening this year - this is a very important meeting for us as it could mean make or break for us.

When home will need to do more office stuff & hopefully have some time for ironing later.

Looking after DS's friend tonight who has a restricted diet so its hot dogs and fries for dinner.

Tru - tooth abcess  , hope it goes asap.

PP - do you mean a wood burning stove? If so remember that you need a liner kit which can be quite pricy, we just have a grate but that reminds me - need to book the chimney sweep.

Anyway, best be off - have a great day.x

Yeap...sorry! I know what I mean:D We already have a gas fire on the chimey breast in the lounge which will be taken out. Chimney will need to be swept????....any idea of costs:confused: We've been told that it can sit against fireplace and just need a back plate as the funnel thing will go into the chimey. OH knows better than me about stuff like this.

    Thanks though.

    Morning all,

Tru - Best of luck with the abcess - ouch!

Plans for today - WM on first load, try and get two more done, shopping, clown lecture (sooooooo much fun!!), then off to the pub. One of my friends has been quite down recently, so someone in our group arranged a day for them, where we all have to write down things we love about her. Lovely idea :o wish I'd have thought of it. In the evening I'm putting up one of my friends - he's just split up with his OH and they live together and they can't get outof their contract which runs out in June, so they're taking turns in the room and sleeping at various friends' houses on the other nights. It's sad, they seemed like a lovely couple, I guess some things just aren't meant to be.

I have an urge to cut myself a fringe - it's been far to long since I've had my hair cut and it's driving me crazy!!!

    xx
