    Hi CRS,

Just a quick word of warning, I'm assuming you're flying from Glasgow Prestwick to Beauvais. If so, Ryanair have started weighing every item of hand lugggage before you go through passport control and, if it is over 10kgs, they will make you check it in (and pay a fee to do so).

They seem to have recently introduced this (my flight was late Feb), and it was catching a lot of people out.

Are they only weighing luggage at some airports? We flew Dublin to Gerona last week ( and back again lol ) and although the staff at the gate where getting some people to put they bags in the " whatever you call it to measure the size thingy " they did not weigh anyones. A few people who's bags would not fit opened their cases and repacked or gave some to others travelling with them so they would fit.

Not sure if anyone had to check their bags in as they were to big as up to I boarded they did not.
    TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T
  • Yeah as far as I know its only Glasgow Prestwick. I've since flown Ryanair from Edinburgh and there was no-one weighing bags in sight.

Glasgow Prestwick is almost exclusively used by Ryanair though, which may explain things somewhat.

Prestwick my local airport and they weigh before you go through pasport control to catch out the online check ins. Fisty cuffs the last time I went through with people getting caught out.
  • I don't think it's up to us to judge what makes other people's holiday. If she wants to take luggage then that is her choice and right to do as she wants in a free society.

Just as it's my opinion to call her a little madam...:)

Incidentally, don't bother trying to get away with more than 10kg on Ryanair. They have been weighing all over Europe - many Poles have been getting rather angry with them as they were too stupid/ignorant to read the rules in advance, only to get caught in the airport. Given that Beauvais is pretty much a Ryanair airport, they may very well be rather strict.

    Their

The books are sitting just there on the floor.

Then tell her to stop being a little madam and wise up to the realities of life.
!!!!!!, are you for real. Not all women want to spend their holidays washing through undies, socks, tops, etc everyday. Some like to dress up, so 10KG hand luggage will go no where. My OH takes 50-60KG of luggage with her for a 7 night trip to Vegas. And believe me, I admire everything she wears. She works hard to be able to afford nice clothes and likes to show them off while on holiday.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

But they are going only for 3 days... Why would you wash anything, you can take different clothes for every day and still not exceed 10 kg limit... I managed to do so while going to Edinburgh for a weekend, wore different clothes and, obviously, underwear every day and my backpack weighed maybe 7 kg at the most.
(I like nice clothes as well, but that's just unreasonable!)
