Ryanair

Hi,
Can someone please advise me about booking flights with Ryanair.
I have been monitoring the price of flights from Glasgow to Paris- 25TH April- returning on Monday 27TH- and in the space of 2 days the flight price outwards has increased by almost half. Does this mean there are very few remaining seats available?
How do the flights work, if Ryanair fill that flight, are additional flights put on to accommodate demmand? If so im assuming they will start cheaper?
Also, im travelling with my girlfriend who takes enough clothes and shoes to last a week. How does baggage allowance work, im assuming we are allowed one bag each as hand luggage with no extra charge?
I know right now I will have to take one suitcase of clothes between us, does this mean we cannot use the online check in facility since we have to check bags in? I ask this question as on the website it gives the option 1 bag and online check in- but i wonder how do you check bags in from online??? Am i missing something?
Some help on this would be much appreciated.

The price of flight tickets is fluid, based upon supply and demand. Book when you see a price you are happy to pay and don't check the price again.
All the info regarding hold and cabin bag allowance can be found on the Ryanair website.0 -
Right...
If the price of the tickets is increasing it does mean that the flight is almost full. Always book early to get the cheapest seats if your travel plans aren't flexible.
Ryan Air is a budget schedule airline, not a charter airline, so they will not add extra flights to meet demand. Think of it this way... Scheduled airlines are like catching the bus. They run to a specific timetable which is set down months in advance. Charter airlines are like getting a taxi. If demand is high for a specific time and destination and the hotel capacity is still there, they may be able to add extra flights.
Check the Ryan Air website for the exact weight and dimensions of the one piece of hand luggage you will be each be allowed as this varies between airlines. The last thing you should do is try to exceed this as you will be told to put the bag in the hold and this will cost double the price that it would do if you add a bag at the time of making your booking.
Online check gives you the ability to choose your seats up to 24hrs before the departure time, which is great if you only have hand luggage but if you do have hold luggage, you will still need to check these in at the airport.
If you don't use the online check in offered, you will be left with whatever seats remain available when you check in at the airport.
So, definately use the online check-in to give you the best opportunity of being seated together, but you will still have to check your bags in at the airport.
I know this bit doesn't apply to you but for the benefit of others who may read this thread...
Please note that from May 1st all new bookings with this airline will require online check-in for a flat fee of £5 and as of 1st October, there will be no airport check-in desks for Ryan Air.
But the best bit of all their new changes is that airline may even consider charging for the use of onboard toilets!0 -
And beware, because however you choose to pay (unless you have - I think it's called an Electron - card) they will charge you extra for paying with a card. Even debit ones get charged extra. We have flown Ryanair a lot in the past but have now decided NEVER to do it again because they are so dishonest. Yes it's cheap, but never as cheap as you think it's going to be. Make sure you know whether taxes etc are included, because they bump up the cost of those supposedly "1p" flights. ha ha. We used to take a picnic to have on board, including wine - but then when security excluded bottles of over 100mls we lost heart. Ryanair seems to be the definitive example of 'you get what you pay for'. Sure it's cheap, and possibly better than not going, but my daughter got stranded in Venice a month or so ago, had to get a train to somewhere else and then re-book her flight from another airport, so in the end she'd have been better getting a scheduled flight anyway as the Ryanair experience cost her more. Just be very careful that you read ALL the small print, and approach them with the attitude that they really don't care about you and your journey, but will fly you there for peanuts (plus hidden costs) if they feel like it. That way you won't be disappointed.0

Thanks for the replys! Certainly clears things up!!
So i can definitely opt for online check (which is free) and check in holding luggage?
Im just slightly thrown as to why anyone would opt for airport check and one bag when it costs extra, when you can have online check for free and check your bags in anyway?
Thanks0 -

Ive taken this all into consideration and im seriously thinking of
flying out to paris with easy jet at :
Glasgow to Paris Charles de Gaulle
flight 6885; dep. Sat 25 Apr 12:10
arr. Sat 25 Apr 15:00
£50.99 per person
(incl. taxes and charges)
TOTAL = £107
Returning to Glasgow Prestwick :
SPECIAL OFFER 50% OFF
Depart:
Paris (Beauvais) 22:50
Arrive:
Glasgow (Prestwick) 23:20
2xAdult10.00EUR
+
1 BAG ONLINE CHECK IN 15 eur
Total = £25 Euroes (approx £23 i would imagine)
Does anyone know if there are any hidden charges with regard to this price being listed in Euroes or is it simply as a result of the flight being booked departing from France?
TOTAL COST = £123 ( Plus any additional card fees by Rayanair)
*The price to travel to paris from glasgow prestwick and return to glasgow prestwick is total £140.
Im kinda new to the whole budget airline travel but does this sound reasonable?0 -
There will be hidden charges in the exchange rate Ryanair chooses to convert the € fare to £ when they charge your card. They are supposed to offer you a choice of currency in this case but the last I heard they didn't.
You do know that Beauvais is way outside Paris? 50 miles. OK you probably do but it's a surprise to some.0 -

What on earth are you babbling about? Neither Ryanair nor Easyjet offer the ability to choose your seats in advance. In fact, if you don't use the online checkin, you'll be paying a rather hefty fee at the airport for the privilege of checking in.
As for Ryanair charging to use the toilets on the plane - please, be more factual in future. O'Leary has said numerous times that it was merely a joke as Boeing couldn't equip the plane with the ability to charge for the toilet - and yet people are still spouting off about how bad Ryanair are because they might charge for the use of the toilet.
The amount of inaccurate facts posted on this forum astounds me.From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Sorry Blue 264 but that article doesnt make any sense to me atall.
Online check-in is currently free, but you have to check in at the airport if you have baggage and pay the airport check-in fee of £4.75. That goes up to £9.50 if you book it through a call centre or at the airport
On the Rayanair website when I opt for 1 bag and online check in it gives me £30, and 1 bag with airport check in is £40. I cannot see anywhere atall a charge for £4.75?
When I read that article is suggets to me you can check in online with one bag holding luggage. ( Free online check in and a charge of £4.75 to put check bags in)?
Also yes Dzug1 i realise its a bit far out, thats why im thinking of flying out with easyjet arriving in de gaul and flying back from Beauvais on a flight at 10:50pm gives me the entire day and no worries about the time wasted through travelling.
Thanks0 -
What I cannot understand from the OP is that if they are checking in one bag, why not take 2 cabin bags instead of 10kg each and avoid the charges?
As a regular Ryanair flyer, I am somewhat at a loss with their inention to charge for online check-in. If they do this I fail to see how the flights will be available at their headline price, which then becomes illegal.
At present all the charges are optional. We are off to Alicante tomorrow and our flights are £5 each, each way. We take cabin baggage, check in online and pay by Electron card, so we pay the headline price. But from 1st May this seems not to be possible.0
