Gaming - any recommend a non violent character?

I should love to try my hand at gaming but I really don't want to go around killing things - although I don't mind if the other characters do.. So I thought I might be a wiseman/woman or wizard etc. Seems it is easier said than done. I found one game where I could sell potions, (can't recall its name right now) but that required me to apprentice myself to the potion maker and the weapon maker (I had to have a primary and secondary skill apparently), and to make weapons I had to collect materials from mines guarded by gnomes and I had to kill them to get the materials and then I also had to try out my weapons on people. Duh. So no luck there.

Can anyone recommend a game - any era - where I can just be a seller of things, spells, information whatever, or a guru or an IT expert or a telepath or something - without actually having to kill anything else. I don't mind everyone else thwacking each other, just want to be a bystander myself.

PS Not the Sims, I already have that.

I want to try a role playing game where I can interact on line with the other characters. When they come to my shop, or my cave etc and I sell them stuff they need for the game I suppose but in a role playing context not a domestic or second world one.

You could try runescape, but to really get anywhere, eventually you have to do some "killing"

Participating in a forum on MoneySavingExpert would fulfil many of your expressed desires. :D

I would go for runescape you can go fishing, woodcutting, mining, running, runecrafting you can get to a certain lvl without killing anything on the punch bags but if you want to get high lvl armor your going to have to kill something, unless quests give you experience i cant remeber but your not going to need armor if you don't fight anything :p

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Spells of gold is an older rpg for the PC. It is pretty much a trading game with a few other quests involved where you might have to kill things, but from what I remember they are pretty much optional.

(it is a pretty boring game though).
Can't think of any other RPG where you wouldn't need to kill anyone/thing. Most of them you get attacked by stuff as you move around.

    It's only a game
