A limit is a limit. You will find that none of the networks adhere to their credit limits *especially O2*, therefore they have no leg to stand on to. if you buy a phone for a child and say limit him to £50, they have nothing to stand on when they don't cut them off at £50.01. Wap etc..it doesn't matter. Even if your abroad, 7 days later they should suspend rather than say "oh, but we didnt receive this information from the network.."
what martin of MSE teaches us is don't let yourself be screwed. a few people don't seem to have got this basic principal yet.0 -

However it seems to suggest that the OP is on a contract. Therefore, as I've always understood, contract tariffs don't have any limits to them (hence to reason to credit check you to make sure you are credit worthy and will be able to pay for your calls). Also if there is a £50 guide, I'm guessing it is purely a guide.
MSE also says read the terms of your contract. To the OP, what are the terms of your contract?"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
If I was the OP i would also not reply anymore... more stupid posts than anything else.. whats the point?
Op my advise is - find a way to pay it and learn from your mistakes. In the end it it really worth worrying so much about it. whats done is done innit? :P
PS sell some bits on Ebay to make some cash0 -
I am well aware that having used the phone my husband is liable to pay the bill, but at the top of each bill there is call credit limit, in his case stating £50
Seems pretty black and white to me.
They don't credit check to see if you can pay £244 per month as I doubt few on here could.
By your (ill)logic, your phone gets stolen and the caller racks up £4,000 of calls. Of course O2 will still try and bill you for it but no court is going to rule they shouldnt and could have cut if off sooner, especially when you've set a £50 limit which, unlike usually, in this case is down in B+W. it's well within their capabilities to do so but they got no incentive as a lot of stupid people will pay it.
OP should count themselves lucky its only £244..but i dont think they should pay it.
See the other thread today where O2 are backdatingly billing people for WAP from November, part of the welcome 5mb browse scam which doesnt make it clear its 5mb total not per month, and you'll learn they will look to screw you in every way they can. And realise it was only free whilst they learnt how to bill you properly for GPRS via Wap which they had problems with before.0
