Brummiebabe I know how you feel! Sometimes I think "oh I won't post on that thread today" when I've spent quite a bit. Often it is stuff that I don't even need to feel guilty for but can feel horrible having to justify it to everyone. We all have different lives, different priorities and different amounts of money but sometimes that gets forgotten. A few weeks back I felt upset because I was told off for buying a sandwich (silly thing to be upset about but silly thing to tell someone off for too!). After being miffed by that I thought, you know what, I'm gonna use the thread as a proper spending diary and be honest, no justification required! Now I try to post every day if I can and have stopped trying to explain everything so much, IYSWIM?
So anyway... getting to the point... I'm sure no one thinks anything of you spending money on a special day like a birthday. That's what money saving is about, cutting back where we can to have money available for what we choose to spend it on (and debts of course!).
Sorry for the little rant, your post just made me think about things.... :rotfl:Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now... Avenue QOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 003

I agree about not wanting to confess sometimes, but I always go for full disclosure in the end, whether it's a spending diary or a food one, or else who are you trying to fool...

BrummieBabe - birthdays are exceptional, don't feel bad. I took my OH out to the cinema on his birthday and actually let him have a posh ice cream, followed by a trip to Pizza Hut (where they tried to overcharge us).
Besides I fear my MOT makes me spender of the week :eek:Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
Hi - Thanks Palscene - found the thread and here I go:
As mine and OH have joint monies I will add what we both spent IYSWIM!
£40 for him to go to pub to watch the rugby, but really chuffed as he came home early, with £11.50 change and is now tucked up in bed, snoring like a baby!!! And this is a real improvement to previous years, as he used to spend around £70 everytime there was an international - must remember to congratulate him tomorrow when he's sober!!!
So,
£28.50 - beer
£0.72 - sugar
£3.49 - door hook, as old one broken and fed up of dressing gowns on bedroom floor!
£2.00 - Pocket money for son
Total - £34.71 - definitely will be better tomorrow!!!
Moths - omlettes make a great meal and if you go to Lidl then all fruit and veg is half price - make a really filling healthy meal for next to nothing! Good luck - am trying to shop as good as you and not be tempted by nice things - next week, will think of you when shopping!!When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
£11.73 on papers and filters for my roll-ups. Sounds like a lot, but I buy them in bulk online, so it works out at a fraction of the cost of buying them in shops & I don't have to buy them more than once every 3/4 months
(Plus, if I was still smoking ready-mades, I'd be spending that every 2 days!) Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300
Debt Free - August 2006!!
