It's leaving your account tomorrow - if you withdrew the cash - you might go overdrawn and then you'd complain about the excessive charges from the bank.
Banks work on batch systems - they update at particular times and put all their transactions through then. As it happens, they've processed the standing orders due to go out on Monday now and marked the money as gone from their systems - it ensures the money can actually go!

They have taken a standing order out a day early no matter what way you look at it its wrong. The money was in anyway so it did not affect me but it could have done. Its not just there waiting for tomorrow the balance has been reduced. And I shouldnt have to phone thier 0845 number to complain
No it would not have affected you. If you have money to pay s/o then it goes from your account tomorrow the 27th, if you do not have money in your account now then it is too late as other posters have told you Halifax use a batch system for processing items.Your a/c balance would have been checked and item processed or returned unpaid resulting in charges being levied against you.0 -
I wouldnt want to take it out of course I wouldn't but I'm just saying if I can't take it out then its left my account unlike what the other poster put that it hasnt.
As far as I'm concerned if I do a standing order for 27th thats the day I expect it to leave not the day before I instructed it toThanx

When you get your statement it will show as being paid on the 27th. The banks do not allow customers to pay in to cover on the same day that a payment is made - for the Banks, Saturday and Sunday do not count as accounting days, there should be a poster in branches advising that transactions made on a Saturday will show in their books as being entered on the Monday.
The reason your balance has been reduced is to allow for that payment - if you want to make another withdrawal you'd either need to get money into your account or risk payments being refused and/or additional charges.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
They are just reserving the money - just like in the case of a debit card payment0

The money has not left your account yet - it is reserved for leaving your account tomorrow! Next time you are in your bank ask them about it!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Oh well at least I've noticed and I'll be aware in the future. It's just never showed up before but anyway at least the money was inThanx

This varies dependant on the bank you're with, what you'll also notice is that credits are paid to you early too - for instance, I've a credit which should come in tomorrow (with TSB) however, it actually shows at the ATM today so I can withdraw the money today - even though it shows as coming in tomorrow, same situation as you but in reverse. My wife's with the Yorkshire Bank & they allow her to withdraw monies crediting on a Monday on a Saturday0

Oh dear. Next she will be demanding they give her £100 as compensation for something she doesnt understand.
