Halifax took standing order out day early and put tomorrows date!

Options
Just checked my Halifax current account and noticed its showing a standing order come out today 26th feb but it should come out on 27th feb but they have actually put it as 27th and its not even 27th yet. Its a regular standing order. I wonder if this has happened before and I didnt notice seeing as they have put it down as the date it should be not the date its been taken.

I would phone to complain and make them awatre of it but I get so sick of having to pay those high cost calls for something they have done not me and from experience with them anyway the customer service is useless. My daughter has also had problems with the standing order system
Thanx

It does that over the weekend - it wont actually have come out yet, it will come out tomorrow - tomorrows date means that it will be coming out tomorrow!

Yeah I've had this happen once, about two weeks ago. They took the money out on the Tuesday even though it should have been taken on the Wednesday.
No idea why, wasn't a weekend thing, they just took it upon themselves to take money out of my account a day earlier.
Nothing surprises me with Hfx anymore, I didn't call them as it's a waste of my time and money (Need a kick up the bum to change banks  ). :D
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

Well ill take note of the amount available today then and again tomorrow to see if it is actually tomorrow even though its down.

My daughters issues are bigger really like amounts changing I think it should ave been about 200 but almost 900 was taken out instead and it was definitely standing order. The dates change to months in difference aswell so this is really worrying. at the time of the 900 one shje had just got enough in to cover it but it eft her in a total mess and halifax said she had no proof she didnt change it herself. No one has her pw and the orders are going to the correct place they just keep changing. Its to pay her student halls fees
    Thanx

That really is worrying! My brother is at uni and I know the money situation isn't great.. It's not what you want happening in any situation but especially not for a student. H alifax really should look into that more for her!

As it's a standing order, has your daughter checked that the uni itself (or whoever takes the money for the halls fees, I don't know-uni not for me at the mo) aren't taking the money early? There may be some sort of fault in the uni's payments system? Although I'm sure she will have checked this already..

Not sure that would have been much help but I'm not sure what to suggest.. Halifax really should check into it further though!

Standing orders can only (or should only) be able to be changed by the account holder or halifax if you ask them but not on thier own. Its direct debits that can be changed by companies so its something wrong with Halifax system. I'll be glad when the halls fees are all paid up so she can then close the standing order but shes having to check it everyday as it changes the date and the amount to come out at whim or just one of them sometimes. The £900 came out early and should have been £200 and Halifax are doing absolutely nothing about it. She has wrote to them aswell as phoned but they wont take any responsibility or even seem to care to want to look into this serious problem as I see it
    Thanx

If you looked at your account yesterday or even after the close of business on Friday it would have shown that standing order up as going to be going out on the 27th (monday). I dont know why it does this but it does. It does this if you take money out of a cash machine over the weekend and it dates it for the monday

  • Saturday and Sunday (and Bank holidays) are not working days as far as banks are concerned. Therefore s/o going out on a weekend date or the monday will be debited on the monday. What is the problem with the available amount being reduced by the amount of the s/o?Did you want to spend that money, if so would you be then happy to pay excess fees from your bank?

The point is it has been taken out a day early.

I do not want to pay charges no that is why I make sure money is in when its due out. I can transfer between different bank accounts within Halifax online so therefore on occasions sometimes the day before it is not in till late in the day or even evening. The transactions change over around 3am with Halifax the day they go out.

They have taken a standing order out a day early no matter what way you look at it its wrong. The money was in anyway so it did not affect me but it could have done. Its not just there waiting for tomorrow the balance has been reduced. And I shouldnt have to phone thier 0845 number to complain
    Thanx
