they always have read their help files :rolleyes:shelly wrote:Hi. Since when have paypal charged the buyer £15 for winning a chargeback? I only ask as Iv'e heard of people getting back every penny they spent and not losing £15. I know that if you do a claim through e-bay for fraud then they charge you £15 for the priviledge but I didn't know PP charged you too.
thx
if you paid via paypal, when you register the claim in ebay all they do is refer you to the paypal site to complete the claim. you have no choice you get one fee of £15 per claim if you win wheather or not paypal or ebay take the claim up.
I know i have lost £30 in two paypal claims.
Paypal/ebay are so two faced they quote if you paid buy a credit card using any other intermediatory or directly with the seller then you must persue a refund through your credit card. But if you have used paypal (even with a credit card) they say you must use paypals claim procedure which then costs £15 if successful. It is just yet another way of paypal making money out of us. they usually find in the buyers favour.
if you didnt want to lose the £15 you could always do a credit card charge back but i am told paypal get a little nasty when you do this, so is best to move all debit and credit cards from your paypal account before doing so and never use paypal again.
i have multiple paypal accounts one i just use for buying with a credit card, remember if using paypal only pay with a credit card for max protection, never use debit or balance payments to pay for items as you may not be able to claim lost money back, as with credit cards if things go wrong and paypal wont help you can try a chargeback.
https://www.paypalsucks.com read this web site it is very interesting :T
moral is if you are a seller do not accept paypal if you are a buyer it is the easiest way to pay with a credit card and get some protection."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
If your policy is no refunds within 7 days then she can't say anything. She should have tried it on when she recieved the item and checked it then - I know I would!
Let her get charged £15 - she obviously doesn't really know what PayPal's Procedures are.

Ebay charge a £15 fee but paypal don't, so I'm not sure where all the £15 mentions are coming from.
Going through the dispute centre on paypal as though I wa smaking a claim still doesn't bring up any mention of a payment:
PayPal Buyer Protection
£500.00 GBP purchase protection at no additional cost.
PayPal Buyer Protection covers:
An eBay item that you paid for but never received
An eBay item that is significantly different than what was described in the listing
Guidelines:
You must send payment to the PayPal account associated with the eBay listing
You purchased a tangible item
Your claim must be filed within 45 days of payment
You may only file one claim per PayPal payment
You are limited to three PayPal Buyer Protection refunds per calendar year
Learn More about PayPal Buyer Protection.
It does look like there is more than one way to file a claim though as it also says this:
Buyer Complaint Policy
PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy covers:
An item that you paid for but never received
An eBay item that is significantly different than what was described in the listing
Guidelines:
You used PayPal to pay for your purchase
Your purchase is a tangible item (physical goods that are delivered to you) Services and intangible items are not covered
Your claim must be filed within 45 days of payment
The item you purchased was never received. The Buyer Complaint process only covers items that were never received
We will make every effort to complete our investigation and secure reimbursement within 30 days from the filing date of the Buyer Complaint.

Not that hubby has ever had to do a chargeback (touchwood) but its nice to know if he has to he won't be charged fir the priviledge. :heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I think paypal though may be having some messaging problems like they did about a year ago. I'm rummaging through the old unmoderated boards now but can find nothing...I just recall that I remember reading a whole list of people complaining about strange messages that made no sense and paypal finally admitting they were sending out the wrong messages to some buyers.
It involved two main issues, firstly complaints for items not received where they stated paypal had no policy (which they do) and this £15 fee, where they appeared to be using an ebay template and not their own.
If anyone does get charged it may well be worth submitting a claim against paypal as I am sure they caved in very quickly last time as no fee is shown anywhere on their site.

I was checking this out for another thread, and from what I can tell, it is only free if the seller is covered by their PayPal Buyer Protection Policy. If you do a chargeback for an eBay item on a buyer who doesn't have this protection, then you come under their "Buyer Complaint Policy" and as part of this, PayPal say that they use eBay’s Standard Purchase Protection Program to reclaim the money, even though you are making the complaint through PayPal, and I think you are therefor charged £15 to cover this cost.
On the Buyer Complaint Policy webpage it says
"For eligible eBay transactions, PayPal automatically applies eBay’s Standard Purchase Protection Program. A separate eBay claim is not needed. See eBay for details and eligibility."
And then it has a chart that includes the maximum payout and processing costs, depending on the currency of the transaction. For example:
Currency of Original PayPal Payment: Pounds Sterling
Maximum Payout: £120.00
eBay Processing Cost: £15.00 GBP0 -
Hi
Thanks everyone!! Totally confused now LOL - just wanted to add that if I had purchased an item I would not put it in the wardrobe, leave positive feedback and then 3 weeks later decide that
a. didnt like it so make a claim
b. ruin it in the wash so try to make claim
I am convinced that it is one of the above!! Anyhow will just have to wait and see- I have filled in my part of the dispute and now it is up to whoever to decide who "wins". Looks like it tends to go in the buyers favours so I may be £8.50 out of pocket!!! At least I didnt just agree to a refund- I cant really do any more!!!
Thanks again everyone xxxSealed pot challenge 7...my number is 2144.....started Nov 29th ....0 -
Hi
Got an email today from paypal to say that the case has gone in favour of the buyer so they are getting her to return the item to me and deducting £8.50 from my account when she confirms she has sent it out!!!
I am not too happy with the outcome- but what can i do?? Looks like paypal always go in favour of the buyer!!!
I know fine well it was in 100% condition when it left here- she has definately damaged it and now through paypal she is getting her cash back!!
OOOOO well - worse things happen!!!

gilly41. as soon as paypal have refunded her make sure you start the NPB on her, it is allowed and the NPB will go through. At least that way you get your FVFs back and it might make her think twice about trying this again.
