Back in Jan I wanted Sky sports for the H cup rugby and I got quoted about £17 extra to add all the sports channels to the family pack. As I have NTL for broadband I got a cheaper quote from them , then went back to SKy and said I was not happy and wished to cancel. After lots of questions about NTL and why I wanted to go they agreed to a full package with 25% discount. ie full package for £31 per month, for one year. Cheaper than just adding the sports. It did however take about 90 mins to get it sorted out so persevere.
They would not shift on the price for SKY+ as they said I had a good price when I joined (about 10 years ago ???)0 -
Hi,
What I will say is that if you've got any chance of "recommending a friend" to Sky or anyone at all who is starting Sky then it's a good way to get a free Sky+ upgrade for yourself rather than take the £50 in M&S vouchers!
If you've already got the smaller Sky+ box then they give you the bigger one for free instead!
Cheers,

Hi, can anyone tell me where I can recommend a friend to Sky and get myself a free Sky+ upgrade (a link?) as I can only find £50 of M&S vouchers
wanted to upgrade to Sky+ for a while but refuse to pay £260 for it >:( would be very grateful
Thanks.0 -
Whats the best way of getting Sky+ if you are not a Sky customer? Is there a way of getting it cheaper?
Thanks0 -
Hi, I currently have sky as 'freesat' so have a bog standard skybox and dish.
I will be moving in a few months and want to change to:
Sky+
Multiroom
new address
new phone number
changing to a couple of channel packs + football
What's the best and cheapest overall way of doing this at the new address?
Can I use my existing box and dish?
Is it a cheaper option to get a box off ebay and a local installer do do the cabling/dish?
Any ideas would be good.
Thanks folks.0 -

I rung Sky last night asking for a deal on Sky+ (I am an existing customer). They said they would do the 160 Sky + box for the same price as the standard one £199 + £60 installation. I told them no way. They said to call Customer care which they could not put me through to -gave me ANOTHER 0870 number!!! Which then put me through to sales. They said they do not have a phone number for Customer Care, to which I replied fine just put me through to Cancellations then! Which they did, then the guy offered me the 160 Sky + box for £99 including installation. So I took it. I then phoned back to confirm it was going to be the 160 box and the girl said it is on my order but there's no guarantee thats what I'll get as it depends what the engineer has on his van!!! So basically I have to wait and see, then phone and complain if its the wrong one!!!
How ridiculous-I have been a customer for 5 years and for the most of that time paid the full monthly package!
But anyway my point is don't let them fob you off, saying they cannot offer you anything if you are an existing customer.0 -
smiler55, thank you very much for the feedback. I am in the same situation, have been a subscriber to the family package & Sky Sports package for many years now and was not too happy to say the least with the reply I got to my email about Sky's upgrade prices for existing customers:
"I am sure you will agree that with ever-growing subscribers to the digital service and the continued enhancement of our products and viewing services, that Sky will continue their goal in offering world beating customer service"
Yeah.....to new customers!
I'm in two minds about if I should try the above and get a knock down price, or just wait for Sky HD and see what the prices are
"the girl said it is on my order but there's no guarantee thats what I'll get as it depends what the engineer has on his van!!!"
They are full of BS again, I may be wrong, but I wouldn't be suprised if the engineer happens not to have any 160 boxes when he calls :rolleyes:0 -
GRRRRRRRR!!!! I am so angry....surprise surprise the engineer rang and said was only due to fit standard SKY+ box and that he would phone and try and resolve it. Sky called back saying I was only down for the standard SKY+ which maybe the girl was confusing 80 hrs with 80gb!!!! I told em to shove it?
Is there any alternative-or is my only option to buy a DVD recorder? :mad:0 -
