Sky Plus

  • I just did this for my parents so I know it works:

Call them up, go through to cancelations, say about an offer that is on for new customers, and say if I don't get it I will cancel. Make sure you dont give them the address you are moving to!!

They offered me sky+ for £49 with moving and without multiroom. But still cancelled as used the FEBPLUS promo code. (Free Sky+/instalation/3 months 1/2 price)

I will advise if you do cancel and rejoin, you need to use a different bank account, and prefereable name!

So moved from Dad's name to mum's name, and opened a new account!!!

But then they found out they cant get sky installed by a sky engineer as they need some unsupported work done because they cant get a signal and need the dish put up a pole. (bloody trees) .
  • RESULT!

Just phoned them (was in a bad mood so feeling argumentative anyway), conversation went sort of:

Me: I want to cancel my Sky subscription, I'm fed up with Sky treating me like a second class customer and pandering to new customers. I want Sky+, but I have been quoted £249 to install, whereas new customers get it for £89. Don't you value customer loyalty? Doesn't it matter to you that I have paid without fail subscriptions for nine years which must run into £1000s? When my mobile phone company want to keep me happy they give me new handsets and better tariffs as they value my custom, why are you any different?

Them: You have to understand that you were given a free box in the first place, which is why you have to pay more for Sky+ box.

Me: I was given a free box 9 years ago, it must be antique by now. To go back to the mobile phone analogy, I get a new handset every year off them, good job I am not using the one from 9 years ago, I would have to buy a bigger handbag.

Them: I can see your point, let me see what we can do....

Came back with £45 with free installation, half price rental for 6 months.

    Well happy!
