Yes that's it and I have also bumped up the debt doctor thread where North Derbyshire CAB have been updating the info as they have learned it.
It does sound right for dizzymum - I think it might be a case of her learning about it and then teaching the "intermediary" how it works.......lol
At least she might beat the rush that I fear may be coming when this really gets publicised after April.

Myvesta was one of the organisations I talked to, but they wanted me to to talk to an Insolvency Practitioner in Belfast rather than locally. They seemed very eager at the time to sell me a frontloaded IVA as I was due to get some money from the sale of my property, but the divorce was so drawn out that I gave up hope of getting any money and so abandoned that idea.

They were helpful granted but I can't advise other than that.

    Thanks SA!

    Hello again, Dizzymum.

To my shame, I've no idea whether myvesta is a goody organisation or a baddy organisation, but I've found this link:

    http://debtrelieforder.org.uk/commonly-asked-debt-relief-order-questions

Others will quickly chip in if I've inadvertantly directed you to the dark side (ie any organisation attempting to make money from helping people with debt)

Assuming the information here is correct, the DRO legislation only comes into force in April. Considering that's next month, I'm surprised there's not more concrete information available. Anyway, have a read. I'm going to see if there's anything about it on the insolvency service website.

    Lily

myvesta have a history of less than accurate info, plus did levy a subscription charge, if i remember rightly ( and dont know if they still do, its a long time since i last looked), so while i cant say they are a 'baddy', they would not be my choice, and would get a second opinian on anything advised.

But to be fair, it is always wise to get as many views on your situation as you can, never just go with the advice of one organisation;)

Thanks both. I had a feeling they were one of the IVA-pushers. Best for Dizzymum just to read the info they have on the link then, and do it through CAB or one of the other charities (if applicable). April is only 10 days away!

Far as I can see (skim-reading) there's nothing on the myvesta site that contradicts nedcab. I daresay not enough is known about it yet for any 'spinning' to have been done.

There cant be, there is no more info out there that has not been posted, or linked to on that thread, unless its just been added in the last week.

This is one of my worrys, as stated in the thread, im just hoping my fears are unfounded, but in a simple case my worrys dont apply so much

    You are all fantastic. :T

I have read some more and DRO does seem to be just right for me. and 90.00 is a lot easier to save up for than the 360.00 i think BR costs if you get 150.00 off for being on benefit.

I have only read one worring thing, that if debt collecters change who money is owed to by passing on the debt then DRO has no affect.

Does anyone know if this is true? as it is very worrying as i imagine all debt collecters will use this way of getting around it.

(To Bat) Got to say I share some of those concerns. I've responded there.

But to get back to Dizzymum, it's still the case that you should keep phoning for as much advice as possible, and send off those letters. Whether you end up with BR or DRO, we'll be here to help as much as we can.

Sorry, DM. Crossed posts. No idea whether that's true and I can see what you mean about it being easy to wriggle out of. This is the trouble with a new formula. No-one knows how it works!

Its not a case of if its true, its only a theory, but one that may happen, or may not.

My worry is its too vague to prevent it happening, so could, if you see what i mean
