Does anyones dishwasher REALLY work?

Mine works fine time after time.
Have a Whirlpool that was here when we moved in nearly 2 years ago and apart from using one of those cleaner fluid thingys in it when we first moved in I haven't done anything to it.
Reading these posts though made me take out and look at the filter for the first time. It looked like it had had wooly jumpers put through it
I assume the fluff-like stuff wasn't supposed to be there so I have rinsed it off.
Have only ever used 2 types of tablets in it. Finish because that's what I used at my old house and Tesco Value when I was on a really-tighten-our-belts week.
I have a box of Finish tabs to use up then I'm changing to Tesco Value. Everything came out as nice and clean with the TV as they do with Finish but as TV cost lots less I'll be going onto them for good.
I do rinse stuff if the DW isn't going to go on for a day or two but only very quickly under the tap and only then if its a 'messy meal' like curry or chilli.
Like I said, apart from running cleaning fluid through it nearly 2 years ago and cleaning the filter tonight I don't mess with it at all and it works perfectly.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I have a Smeg, on which I posted earlier, has been etched by my 3 year old! Other than the cosmetic damage, its brilliant. Just keep the inside clean, no need for rinsing etc before dishes go in. That defeats the purp of having a lazy-girl machine, dinnit? I use whatever tabs are on offer, & have no sand- blasted crystal or the like.0

We've got a Hotpoint and it's never failed us.
I always rinse everything under a running tap, bung them in the dishwasher and Bob's your uncle.
Never had a problem even with burnt on baked dishes.0 -
BTW Finish turbo dry rinse aid branded as "calgonlit' is £1 in Poundland.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I would highly recommend a meile dishwasher, has given consistant results since I bought it 4 years ago. Has a separate slim rack at the top for cutlery and the middle rack can be dropped down to accomodate bigger items. Pricey but good and had a 10 year guarantee when I bought it.0

I've just bought at Baumatic as part of my new kitchen refurb - wow can't believe how much time I've wasted doing dishes over the years - is my first dishwasher and I love it! It works great and even gets the burnt on gunk off baking trays etc and brings up glasses super sparkly clean! I'd recommend it - it's a slimline one but guess that shouldn't make a difference to the way it cleans....0

I sometimes need to put the odd plate or cup through again but this tends to be either my stacking or when I haven't bothered to clean the filter. It's no hardship and no way am I handwashing them.
But there is one thing that is guaranteed to leave residue all over your pots. Weetabix. Evil dishwasher nobbling stuff it is. Ends up everywhere.0 -
We've had a few bosch dishwashers over the years the first lasted for years and gave the best wash, the second bosch was ok but we hesitated over another bosch. But, it was the best of a bad lot and we bought another ~ within a year (thank goodness) it started playing up and not washing the top rack. All the usual suspects were checked.... but one strange thing the actual spray arm at the top was bashing on the back of the machine (its own casing!) like a buffer. Bosch engineer called ~ apparently this is because its too loose and a plastic clip was used to stabilise it, worked fine after that. I have also stopped using supermarket tablets, its a huge difference. So check both spray arms move freely!!What goes around comes around !! Simple but very true :rotfl:0

I am on my third Bosch (for last 9 months). The previous one was fine so long as food bits didn't get stuck in the washing arms. Then you got a patchy wash.
I did have a problem with wash quality with the new one initially - but it turned out it does not do a hot rinse (none of the newer models do - for ecological reasons apparently). And I was using all in one tablets which worked fine with the last model but apparently on the new cold rinse models, you also have to keep the rinse aid dispenser filled, regardless of tablet type used, as this is used to sluice down the contents on the final rinse. Since then it has been fine.
Yep, thats what I was told as well! I was also told that the spray arms do not work at the same time anymore ~ very strange! What goes around comes around !! Simple but very true :rotfl:0 -
Have had my Bosch for about 3 years and had no problems with it apart from the odd dodgy wash - clean the filter out and this always does the trick. Do rinse the dishes under the tap before putting them in and usually use Fairy Capsules or Finish Tablets.I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints - the sinners are much more fun
