Evening folks,
Come on own up. Does anyone have a dishwasher that really gets stuff clean time after time or have I just been unlucky. I have now given up on my second model. Glasses come out pebble dashed and cutlery greasy.
I use salt, rinse aid and finish tablets. I stack correctly.
I've come to the conclusion washing up is cheaper and less stress free.
Does anyone agree?

Completely disagree. In four years we have had just a couple of occasions when the wash hasn't been too good - both due to dirty filters. A hot wash with the machine empty sorts it out.
Even burned on oven trays come out like new. No damage to any of our glasses including expensive cut glass Edinburgh Crystal.
Ours is a Bosch - you get what you pay for.0 -
I'd never be without my Zanussi dishwasher.0

I have had two dishwashers over a period of about 16 years, the first one a Candy I think is still going strong in it's second home, we changed it for a built in Bosch about 4 years ago. Both have worked fine if they have been stacked correctly and we have had no real issues with stuff not being clean.
I do clean the dishwasher every few weeks with one of those finish or aldi equivalent cleaner, we have soft water here so I don't worry too much with rinseaid or salt I am quite fussy about using decent tablets I found the budget one's didn't do as good a job.
I use 35 degrees most of the time and we tend not to put big stuff like pans in but we don't always run it as soon as we have eaten so sometimes the pots have been in a couple of days.
What make is it? Is it still under warranty? maybe book a service call?0 -
do you clean out the filter every couple of days?
If I don't do that i end up with 'pebble dashing'. All it takes is a rinse under a very hot tap and you're away again.
I have a Hotpoint and (touch wood) it's great."Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research"

We had a smeg that pebble dashed everything. Rented a house with a Bosch that worked like a dream with not one issue ever in nearly a year.
New smeg now, make sure everything is rinsed before going in and the filter cleared out regularly and it is well behaved. I've never had greasy plates come out of any of them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

My tip, dont overload and every few weeks, run with a cleaning block
Ps have a Bosch0 -
When my dishwasher gave up the ghost last year, I didn't replace it and I don't regret it. I've always had dishwashers but really didn't like the last one (I will admit it was cheap although can't remember what make).
I realised that I was already running a bowl of washing up water for things like wooden chopping board and really baked on dirt, so I might as well just use the water for the whole lot.0 -
mine is going through that stage- Ie got 2nd hand hotpoint. To be fair it was only 40 quid off ebay and is/was in brilliant condition.
Its using nearly 2 bags of salt a week ( salt light constantly on) and i only ever put in half loads, fairy/ finish tablets, clean filter every day, hottest temperature. Im at my wits end really theres no way i have the time to go back to hand washing! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have a bosch which I bought second hand for £60 through the local paper.
No issues, works like a dream every time.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Mine cleans better if I use powder rather than tablets? No idea why, it's more economical too as I find it easier to use less powder than to try and snap a tablet in half! Tesco cheap powder works well, and I clean it all out every month with a hot vinegar wash.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
