I've done a few "slideshow onto disc" and found that putting them on a DVD rather than a CD results in far better image quality when viewing.

Will an ordinary CD burner put the photos onto a DVD blank or would I need a dvd burner to do it?

Not sure but I think an ordinary cd burner should do it

No, to burn a dvd you need a dvd writer, but you can put a vcd/svcd on an ordinary cd disc.

    Hope this helps

You can just do it as a VCD or some DVD players actually play JPGs so you could just create a data disk with JPGs.

    :)
  • The best software I've used to produce a DVD with good anough quality to play on a TV is

    http://www.xequte.com/pixplay/

you can add soundtracks, transitions and there is only one simple ad added at the end.
I got a 45 day free trial but then it added another 30 days one this was up.

If you need multiple slide shows on one dvd with a menu use

    this is free.
  • I would like to thank all as well as I have photos of grandchildren that now run on my dvd

If you have Nero 6 as you can also make a quite professional slideshow and add effects between slides and also sounds. Menus & chapters can also be created to look like a dvd menu etc. Good luck !

would you be able to explain roughly how to do that, i tried putting quite a few photos onto a cd for my m in law but i put them in folders for each year the folders come on but cant seem to get them to work, so ditched that idea.... but i would like to have a go at what you suggested regarding adding effects and sounds etc..

    thanks barjam:confused:

You can do this with Nero by opening up Nero visionexpress - Make new slide show - dvd video. From here you can browse to import your own photos by clicking on the browse tab, screen001.jpg
Then drag and drop your photos into the frames section, near the bottom.
Once you have all your wanted photos in the window, you can add graphic changes between photos by dragging and dropping the graphic inbetween the photos from the 'Display Transions' menu. Then click next to take you to the next stage where you can create another group of photos and arrange them how you wish. The next stage allows you to create a title page and menu buttons.
    Sorry for the late reply,
