PPI Party Pooper Mortgage-free Glee! Debt-free and Proud!
Actually you still achieved an awful lot even if you were feeling grotty! Just looking after small goslings is a job all on it's own. The housework will do the decent thing and wait until you feel better. Don't worry it won't go away!

Hope you feel better today, if you can, take it easy.

Since the ironing I did last weekend hasn't been put away & we don't have goslings requiring attention I think you can give yourself a huge pat on the back for doing what you did!!

Not returning to work has its positives, not just the fact that any pay would be going straight to the childminder.
    1) you will be able to line dry clothes much easier, they will smell much nicer & you won't feel like you are living in a Chinese laundry
    2) time with the goslings ( actually that should be point 1 2& 3) is priceless
    3) as a SAHM you might be able to do more paid surveys?
    4) in theory you'll have the time to find the best prices for what you need......
Speaking of which, if you haven't sorted your car insurance yet ! Try Hastings direct. They were the best for both of ours last year, almost 2 for the price of one, plus cash back is available.

    Keep smiling

I work to live, not live to work.
I love to live & live to love.
    Good enough is exactly that.

    The Latest Update

So it's been awhile folks. Life has been very busy. Goslings growing before my very eyes. Don't know where the time goes I really don't.

Finding being a SAHM pretty tough but equally amazing. Certainly opened my eyes to a whole new world of responsibility. A responsibility that, at times, weighs very heavy.

MrGG has been working like a man possessed. I'm very lucky that he is such a hard worker. He's no shirker or dead weight.

MrGG and I are working hard to beat the debt and slowly we are getting there. I've been playing CC roulette and switching balances where I can to take advantage of 0% periods. Obviously I'm incurring BT fees but in the long run the 0% advantages outweigh the BT fees.

We've decided to keep the car we have. We wanted to go for something a bit bigger that we could actually all fit in comfortably but we simply cannot afford it. We'd be utter utter fools to compromise our already fragile financial situation.

Had to buy milk today because we'd run out. The cost of milk at say Mr T's petrol convenience stores is 40p more than in the supermarket. That'll teach me!

    Til the next instalment.........

Ooh it's lovely to see you back again, I see your updates on FB but wondered how the debt-busting was going ;)
  • Thanks Mooomin! Appreciate you not asking me on FB! :D prefer to keep this part of my life under my feathers. We've been doing ok but I know we can do better and so the challenge begins.

How are things with you? I did have a search for your diary but no joy.

No doubt most of you are watching and drooling over the Great British Bake Off. Tbh it's making me very hungry. Hungry for sweet things to eat. I shall conveniently forget about the bargain bar of hazelnut laced chocolate I scoffed earlier.

Today was a spend day but on essentials. I went for own brand shower gel and bath bubbles. I could have gone for a branded one on offer but I decidedly to go for the lowest price, but without going for absolutely basic basic ones. I'd parked for free at supermarket too so that kept today's spends down. I also bought greetings cards which I struggle with justifying as the recipients inevitably throw them away and it feels like such a waste. I always go to the cheapest shop in town as they do really nice cards for a fraction of the price. I can't be spending £2-3 per card. Simply do not have the fundage. Particularly when I have numerous cards to send over the next few weeks.

I should also mention that aside from a bit of credit card shuffling I haven't actually used my credit cards for actual spending. In fact I can't remember the last time I did, which I am amazed at. I can remember a time when my cards were my best friends. I couldn't even tell you the PIN numbers now. Not that I am stupid enough to even give anyone the numbers anyway :D I'm waiting for HFax to approve my online registration so that I can shuffle some debt to that card which will help things out a bit further.

I've currently hit a brick wall regarding identifying ways to make money. Each idea I've come up with I have a barrier to pursuing the idea. The local FB selling groups used to be brilliant at selling on items but now they are so hugely popular nothing seems to be selling. Least nothing I have to sell seems to be moving.

I've decided to reduce the use of the DW, haven't used it at all today. No idea if this will make any difference or not to our energy bills or not but it's got to be worth a try eh?

Enough wittering from me, I'm off to raid the cupboards.

    Til the next instalment............

  • Thank you Brizzle! Fantastic to be back. I have been busy rearing the goslings and will continue to be busy rearing them for quite a few years, hence my absence. However, it seems that realistically, I shouldn't take a break from the forum as when I do I feel as though I have mini LBM's again which send me running back here. Your signature is looking mighty fine! Check out your debt busting, amazing and inspirational. I'd love to be debt free by the end of this year. Ain't going to happen. I won't let it grind me down and I won't let it ruin my life. I'm going to take each day so it comes and aim to make the right MSE choices. I only use cash now, don't even take my debit card out with me. No point really as no money in my account anyway! :rotfl: Have to laugh or I might cry. Actually I won't cry. Crying won't change jack. Sorry, I've rambled away with myself. Still awake? ;)
