730.80 paid -
- 10.80 credit card surchage
=720.80
divided by 5 passangers is 144.00 each.
x 2 passangers covered = 288.00
- 100.00 excess = 188.00 back (approx me thinks)
Which is better than the nothing I thought I would get.0 -
remember to take sufficient time to complete your claim form. insurance companies look for anything not to pay out. with you not knowing you had this insurance it's a fair assumption that you haven't been able to inform them about your medical histories. they will also possibly want to see that you have done all possible to lessen the insurance companies exposure to loss etc.
just be wary and don't rely on that money yet ! treat it as a nice bonus if you get it ...good luck0 -
When I spoke to them they advised that as long as the injury was caused after we had taken out the insurance we would be covered.. it was...the injury was after the insurance started and the holiday was booked before the injury happened so fingers crossed it should be ok... but see your point and will make sure I get the form right.

it's not just this particular problem you have to be concerned about . if there's anything in your medical history even unrelated to this that they feel they should have been notified about some of them will try and wriggle out of it. there's cases every week in my paper and on the internet where it doesn't make sense to us but the insurers say they weren't aware of all the factors. good luck still0

I had to claim on travel insurance recently and the form only asked for details of the injury that had caused me to cancel, i didn't have to mention any pre existing medical conditions. the doc had to fill in a form saying i hadn't been to the docs with this condition before the insurance was taken out. Mine was a broken ankle and dvt which quite clearly were caused by me falling over but i suppose if it was something like heart attack or stroke then it might muddy the waters somewhat cos they could say that other apparently unrelated medical conditions could have lead to the stroke/heart attack etc.
The op's oh has an injury to the knee - if this was caused by an accident then i am sure there will be no probs, its only if another pre existing condidtion has caused him to injure the knee that they could encounter problems.0 -
i've seen cases where the two problems are totally unrelated medically but the insurance company refuse to pay because they hadn't been made aware of the pre-existing condition...the theory is that they may have refused you insurance , put conditions on or asked for a higher premium ( even though it's free in this posters case ).0

Suppose it must vary from company to company then, as like i said, there was no space on my claim form to tell them about any other conditions other than the one i was claiming for.
I must say as well GIRLPOWER that I was pleasantly surprised by how quick i got my money back - had expected it to be ages but it was about 2 weeks from ringing to ask for the claim form to receiving the cheque. Hope your claim goes as smoothly!0 -
Recieved a cheque.... :j :j :j £220.00.. does not detail how they have come to that amount but it will include 25.00 for the doctors form they got me have filled in.0

Gald to hear you got something back. It's better than nothing

Oh, and don't forget the insurance when booking next time
Here I go again on my own....0 -
Girl Power,
I'm glad the Alliance & Leicester came through for you.
You could ask them if you can pay something to get your children included on the insurance - then you will all be covered from now on.
Cheers,
