Yes, but they don't like groups of foot passengers wandering about the docks, plus our party ranges from 3 months to 77 years old. I have cycled it in the past, but then you could cut across the grass to the check-in.

These days there is anti- stowaway fencing everywhere and it is a very frustrating walk/cycle, doubling back on itself without any possibility of short cuts.

We are now looking into hiring a self drive car and going by LD Lines straight to Boulogne, as some of our party are nervous about travelling by train.

Thanks for the information dzug - I'll be interested to hear from Euroferries eventually, as they promise, but I don't think I will rely on them.

No I didn't mean walking around the docks hun, you get on a shuttle bus for that to the entrance, I meant from the entrance to the docks to Calais train station. I've done the walk in the past, but that's not an option for you anyway.

Our problem was that the shuttle bus in Calais is not going to run on Sunday 15th August, because it is Assumption Day!

Not a problem now, because we are hiring a second car, meaning LD Lines will take all of us direct to Boulogne in two cars. (Reminder: LD Lines will no longer take foot passengers, hence the hiring of a second car for the seven family members who cannot fit into our own five person car....)

Thanks again to those who let me know that Euroferries has not yet started their widely advertised run from Ramsgate to Boulogne, and sounds like a company one cannot rely on, even 3 month into the future.

I meant the bus from the ferry itself to the entrance, they have to run that, I mean, they can't have people walking around the docks really, but anyway, glad you got an answer.

For anyone also interested in this route, I have just received the following message!:

    Dear tenuissent,

An announcement is due to be made shortly by our PR company regarding the imminent launch of Euroferries high speed service, alongside associated PR events taking place.

I have copied your details to our customer contact list so you are kept apprised with relevant Euroferries news & updates, such as the launch of service.

    Kind Regards,

    Poppy Redmond

Interesting considering that they do not have any ship to operate the route and all of the fastcraft that they have looked at are now in service with other operators.

    Anyone know anything about Euroferries?

    http://www.euroferries.co.uk/index.htm

Their website has a 2011 timetable with four sailing a day, but is not taking bookings yet for this year.

Does the service even exist? Google only seems to have 2009 articles.
    Been away for a while.

I don't think there is a service that goes to Boulogne any more? Could be wrong.
