Euroferries Ramsgate to Boulogne

Does anyone know anything about this new service i keep checking there website but it doesn't have any information other than coming soon

I want to book for July but the longer i leave it waiting for them the cost of the other cross channel services keep going up. (I am hoping they are operating better times than LD lines on the boulogne route)

if anyone has any inside info that would be great.

  • The view from many sources within the industry and enthusiast community is - "not going to happen".

Euroferries are claiming to be working with Fred Olsen lines and have chartered a specific vessel which they have named. This ship is laid up at the moment following an engine failure a couple of months ago which caused the ship to run aground and require evacuation. The ship has not been repaired yet, let along been modified in order to work on the English Channel.

Neither Ramsgate nor Boulogne can confirm the route and neither port has seen activitity to begin the modifications to berths or booking offices etc.

My personal advice would be to book with either LD, P&O or Norfolkline. Seafrance at the moment are going through issues that potentially could lead to strike action by the unions in the coming months.

Thanks ferryenthusiast i was having my doubts after speedferries going under and lots of passengers loosing out i didn't want this to happen especially during july peak season. Its a shame LD lines takes so long and that their timetable is not great for us. I will pay up and book eurotunnel ( I hate not getting a bargain!!)
  • No problem ChezAllen.

Remember that LD Lines should be increasing the number of sailings to Boulogne around June / July time as per their original opening schedule. However nothing has been confirmed ship wise so not sure what is happening as yet. Will post more as and when I know.

Has anyone up-to-date news about Euroferries? Now that LD Lines have stopped taking foot passengers to Boulogne I have a big problem with a family outing to Boulogne in August. We have booked a Boulogne hotel, but cannot now get there unless Euroferries is actually operating to Boulogne from Ramsgate. We'll have one car and 6 foot passengers. Any advice?

????surely if you have a car they are not foot passengers? Unless LD are operating some weird rule the other companies don't.

The car is full once five people are in it, and the rest are footpassengers, as we cannot fit 11 people into one small car, which also carries their baggage. It worked fine last year with LD lines, but they have changed the rules. So any news about Euroferries, Ramsgate to Boulogne?

Can't help with Boulogne ferry, although I would dearly love a Ramsgate to Boulogne crossing myself. Could you not all go Dover-Calais and either do 2 trips down the coast with passengers? It's only about 20 mins away.

Or look to see if there is a bus route between Calais and Boulogne? I'm sure there must be.

That's what my daughter suggested....are you sure it is only 20 minutes? I'll look into it. Our other solution is to hire a minibus. I'll also look into buses and trains. The problem is that it adds another layer of complexity onto what is already quite a nightmare to organise. Thanks for answering.

    It's 20-30 mins. Easy drive. :)

    Agreed

or 25 to 40 minutes by train

If there is a bus, it will probably take about an hour
