Euroferries Ramsgate to Boulogne
Comments

Google maps says it takes 30 minutes. I would have to do the double journey 3 times = 3 hours the day we arrive, and 3 hours the day we leave. Not an encouraging prospect. Does anyone know where I can get information about whether or not Euroferries has started running from Ramsgate to Boulogne? I have made enquiries all over the place in an effort to find out. I have even emailed Euroferries, but do not know if I can trust any answer. Last year they seem to have accepted money for crossings that didn't happen.0

They haven't started running
IF they do it may well get delayed beyond any announced date
Any information you get will be untrustworthy - whether it's from the ferry company, the port authorities or anyone else until it's actually happened.
They ARE taking bookings for July though - if you want to risk it. Mid June seems to be the date they are hoping to start0 -

We have booked a Boulogne hotel, but cannot now get there unless Euroferries is actually operating to Boulogne from Ramsgate. We'll have one car and 6 foot passengers. Any advice?
If that is the case, I have a solution for you, go as a foot passenger on P&0 ferries and than from the Calais port catch the bus to the station (or the ville), and than you can catch a train from Calais to Boulogne, not ideal, but than it's a solution for you. And yes, the trains do run to Boulogne, I've done it in the past before we started taking the van.The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
Yes, thanks to both.
Dzug, do you mind my asking the source of your information? It is not that I doubt you, but I have found it impossible to get information from anywhere and would be grateful for a good source that I could check over the coming two months.
Tarry - I agree, and I have been looking into the trains. One problem is that on the way back again, the bus from Calais Station to the port is not running (Ascension Day), but I hope they can take taxis.0 -
For anyone also interested in this route, I have just received the following message!:
Dear tenuissent,
An announcement is due to be made shortly by our PR company regarding the imminent launch of Euroferries high speed service, alongside associated PR events taking place.
I have copied your details to our customer contact list so you are kept apprised with relevant Euroferries news & updates, such as the launch of service.

It is possible to walk it, if the weather is good, but that's not possible for some. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -

Looking on the Euroferries website they are offering bookings from mid June onwards and certainly for July - whether it's for every day of the week I don't know, I didn't check that thoroughly. From memory early June came up with no sailings, the 15th they were there. I was looking up foot passengers only and didn't go any further than getting a price
But it doesn't mean they will actually be running.0 -
"It is possible to walk it, if the weather is good, but that's not possible for some."
Yes, but they don't like groups of foot passengers wandering about the docks, plus our party ranges from 3 months to 77 years old. I have cycled it in the past, but then you could cut across the grass to the check-in.
These days there is anti- stowaway fencing everywhere and it is a very frustrating walk/cycle, doubling back on itself without any possibility of short cuts.
We are now looking into hiring a self drive car and going by LD Lines straight to Boulogne, as some of our party are nervous about travelling by train.
Thanks for the information dzug - I'll be interested to hear from Euroferries eventually, as they promise, but I don't think I will rely on them.0 -

Sorry, I meant to write Assumption, very important holiday in France (15th August), lots of things closed.
Brain is ragged with comparing all the options.
Final solution is hiring a 7 seater car to take the footpassengers on LD Lines directly to Boulogne along with our own car carrying 5 people.0
