Keep it going folks - ideas for games featuring trolls and various blunt instruments? Must go and get on with life - after all we lose an hour tonight. Why can't they leave Greenwich Mean Time alone?
One life - your life - live it!
  • Oh.yes, the time change. So we get one hour less in the morning before 7 am and an extra at night. Along with the chirrapy song bird that warbles 24/7 for the next few months. :D
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

I upset someone earlier this week, it was said my comment was offensive. Not like me too say something un PC but you never know who's going too jump out of the screen and get on your case and bite your head off. :(
  • Yes. After 10 years online somethings never cease to surprise me. ;)

I do try to be as sensitive as possible online (trust me I have been on the receiving end of some truly ugly insensitivity online and it made me think !!!!!! is going on here?), especially when you don't know the person reading and I also try to guage my replies giving consideration to that. You cannot always win, though, all the time. Now, as someone who has seen plenty of troll activity in that time, one thing I do know is they are fond of provoking a reaction from someone, thereby creating the scenario where you are the one in the wrong and so on. Probably saying something obvious but trolls are not always about pure troublemaking, some are really far more sophisticated, and subtle than some sometimes imagine. Some also are or can be experts on 'chameleon' like activites eg they will copy a style of someone, then cause trouble. Going all CSI there but just things I've seen go on. Hence why my hackles rise (when I know I should ignore) at times when I see something that implies that it's not as clear as mud what is going on. You can be wrong, of course, but when you read over posts, see where the inconsitencies are then that is when alarm bells start ringing and also when something makes little sense. I know many aren't great commuicators online for example but it's like reading a script and then something comes up, contradicts what was said earlier and you know something is up. Not always, but most of the time. I try not to react, but sometimes I do. And I also know that some trolls come to forums to start on someone to see if they can bait and get a reply. Not always, but sometimes. I am not always a great communicator online so I hope all of that made sense. Again, it's just confidence probably making me say all that.

Well, Casualty is on and I am missing it! See you all later.

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P
