uninsured vehicle

The reason he may be buying and driving different cars is he may have a motor traders policy. This would allow him to change cars and not inform the insurance. I know of people who pretend to be trading from home and use this as an easy way to buy, tax and run vehicles that they wouldn't normally afford to insure. But even a traders policy does not exempt you from parking an untaxed or sorn vehicle on a public highway. He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0

If he is a motor trader he still needs to register vehicles that are kept or used on the road with the Motor Insurance Database so it should have shown when the OP checked the with the MID through Askmid which by the way you are not supposed to use if the vehicle you are checking is not your own vehicle0

That's if he is all legal and above board and not some dodgy type like you see at motor auctions, who always buy vehicles with "one wheel in the scrap yard".He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0

what kind of stereo type is that? maybe thats all the guy can affrord? That's if he is all legal and above board and not some dodgy type like you see at motor auctions, who always buy vehicles with "one wheel in the scrap yard".
one wheel in the scrap yard to you is another mans pride and joy, and he can see the potential of the car....work permit granted!0 -
Reporting an untaxed vehicle (in this case SORN) is better reported direct to the DVLA. You can report it online using this form.
It's a complete waste of time reporting it direct to the DVLA. I had a very similar situation to the op. I reported it to the DVLA a few times and nothing was ever done.
I reported the matter to the council and they sorted it out the same day.
So go along the council route.0 -
hes not a trader, these are real heaps that just sit there for age and ages0

A neighbour has a habit of buying cars / vans / motorbikes and using them until they breakdown and then just leaves them hanging around for ages taking up valuable parking spaces that are few and far between, this is dont really mind if they are taxed/ insured as i am not the pavement police
However, his latest car (an old jag) has been parked badly out of site from the main road on a side road, running a check on the ask mid site tells me it has no insurance, how can i check if it has valid tax (it will look too obvious if i walk upto it)
If it has no tax how do i go about reporting it. (also how do i report the lack of insurance and who too)
I would turn a blind eye if it was just a short one off for a few days, but this is taking the !!!!
The most genuine thing to do would be to go round and tell him you are about to report it. A stab in the back from you is a little dishonourable to say the least. Annonymous grassing up can backfire and he may blame some other uninvolved neighbour. If he doesn't do anything when you've had a word you can report him without any consience.
Of course you may then also be able to report him for ABH as well:rotfl: :rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

i have asked him many a time about his cars / motorbikes. He had left a motorbike behind my house so i couldn't get my bins down the alley way, it stayed there for ages, was too heavy for me to move by myself, he said it had broken down and he couldnt afford to get it moved, eventually it dissapeared over night, he asked me where it had gone, we had no idea and we both concluded some lads must of pinched it judging from the drag marks up my fence / across some grass0
