I hate that they dont have faster payment service, now it could be my imagination but they DID introduce it for about 3 days and then as fast as it came it went.
Now I have to set up transfers the day before as they never get taken till the next day.
Hi mumof4, I noticed that about faster payment. Did a few when they introduced it last year and it was brilliant as it went straight into the other account (Barclays) but then they stopped - don't know why  It does say on their website that you can pay via faster payment by telephone banking - but who would do that every day??? Banks, eh? What I also find annoying is that when you setup a payment say in the morning (PAD to a CC or something) it doesn't change your available balance until midnight when the money is transferred :o My OH banks with Barclays and he has faster payements and all, when he transfers into my Lloyds account, I receive within minutes!

Well done on clearing your card! Could you...

...put the cash into a pension?
...open a savings account where you aren't allowed access to your money for a few years?
...give it to a trusted relative to look after for you so you don't blow it?
...start a Christmas fund and put it in a sealed tin?

    xxx

those are great ideas! the only one i can think of to add - an isa? i've just opened one with m&expensive, the minimum monthly deposit is 25 pounds, so even if you did the equivalent of a pound a day it would add up nicely. the maximum each year is 3600, so maximum per month would be 300. good luck whatever you decide! x

    Hiya everyone:j

P&C, why don't you get an ISA that you can't access for a set time, and do your PADs into there?

Carlislelass - its up to you really. I have just shut down two old ones because I think having less available credit on your file make sit more favourable when applying for more credit... I have just applied for a new card (for Quidco cashback) and already have four. I will keep the Egg card for SBT, and the Sainsburys card for the extra Nectar point (which I save for Xmas) but the two that are currently 0% will be gone when they are cleared.

Nice little PAD of £303 for me today :o
