Hello moomi, I'm in the middle of reading the same book atm. I actually started low-carbing way back in January but have had many blips since then :o

I do think your head needs to be in the right place before you even think about starting. If you think you are going to fail by eating the kids sweets then you probably will!!

Not sure what to advise really. I haven't read all of the menus in the IPD book yet so don't know what is included tbh.

Do you think you could try it for 2 weeks?? Really put your mind to it?? Can you not have sweets in for the kids for those 2 weeks??

Good luck. I know it's hard work :o I'm hoping to re-start low-carb any day now, but only when I really feel that I can do it.

Oh, I've just come back from the most phenomenal night out! Sadly, although I had two tickets to the event, I didn't have any friends willing to accompany me... but I did meet up with some (and make some) once there :) Stuck strictly to water too!

So, today's menu (first time I'd eaten in a couple):
    - Three hardboiled eggs
    - Three Quorn sausages, two fried eggs and three mushrooms
    - Homemade shortbread at the venue (chosen over chocolate cupcakes)
    - Small piece of Red Leicester
    - Total Greek yoghurt (I've started buying these to teach myself portion control!!)

Well, I woke up at 6 am but turned over & went back to sleep until 7.30 am!! Yay!! Feel like I've had a decent sleep for a change.

Got a bit of a headache this morning but think it's TOTM starting early  Certainly not the quarter bottle of wine I had last night!! Maybe if I'd had as much as alias & Mercy ........... :rotfl:

I'm going to be doing more cleaning today. I know, I'm sad. It was lovely coming down to a still tidy front this morning though!! :o

Have a good day everyone - it's raining here

Morning Sweets! We've still got sunshine... who says that Wales is wet?? I've got housework to do too, plus I also want to nip into the office for a bit (giving a presentation tomorrow morning that I haven't practised at all yet).

  • Morning all!
Am I the only one here still doing this diet thing? TBH, it doesn't feel like a diet. I feel like I am eating normally but the weight is still coming off, slowly but surely. On average a pound a week. It doesn't sound much but it soon adds up. And I also think that doing it slowly means that my body has time to adjust and (hopefully!) I won't get flabby skin.
I also just need to ask something which I am well confused over. I have until now been wearing size 14 clothes. They are now too big for me so logically I should now be a size 12. But my waist measurement is 31 1/2 "(down from 34"!) so there is no way I am a size 12. I looked up some old dress patterns (I used to make all my own clothes and I will definitely get back into it once I have achieved my goal). According to the measurements on the back, I have gone from a size 18 to a size 16! EEK! So how come my size 14 clothes are now too big? Have the clothes manufacturers changed the sizes? Is there an official chart of some kind? It may seem weird, but all the time I was wearing size 14, I thought it wasn't that bad. I don't know why I hadn't realised I was actually a 18, but if I had I might have done something about it before now!
Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.

sweet...any chance you could tone down your bright pink to a dull purple maybe? I got a headache. :cool2: < I need those. :rotfl:

Couple of cups of tea and I'll be right as rain. :D

Mercy my pet, you is weird in more ways than one. :D Your taste in men sucks.:rotfl:(Gentle banter said lovingly of course.:D) You got a headache today? kickittodeath? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Happy late birthday Saz. Where are you anyway?

Mazzers still off having a life somewhere? :D

moomi...hiya and dont be put off by our rabbiting rubbish, you just walked in at a weird time. :D I think you need to make yourself a chart (like a reward chart kids sometimes have when their parents are trying to change their behaviour?). Take each day at a time, and when you get through a day, mark it off on the chart. Once you have a few squares marked off, it will get easier. It wont take a whole fortnight for you to stop craving sweet things. Sounds daft I know but we're all here cos we have the same problem and we cant just deal with it easily. We need to try things we might not normally do. Could you ask the family for help and tell them you really want to lose weight and you need them to help by not having sweet things in the house for the first 2 weeks?

Badger, good luck on the presentation.

    Marrow...sweetcorn out a tin? Yeuch. :D

Gaye...I have no idea. :rotfl:My guess is that you say the patterns are 'old', I think sizing has altered over the years to take into account our changing shape. I seem to remember seeing something about that on telly a year or so ago.

Btw.....having wine for tea seems to have helped me...I lost a pound. ;):rotfl:

Well done on the lb loss btw

Gaye, this thread has gone a bit haywire lately, me especially :o We do keep coming back to low-carbing though, just [STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] some people take longer to get the old head in the right place

Btw, alias, you never suggested that chart thingy for me!! Tis a great idea methinks :T
