    How dare they Mercy!

It might be the way they show their strength in front of other males? Other ways will more than likely show them up ;)

Made a lovely meal tonight, chicken miso soup. Recipe is on Sainsburys website, I just changed Sainsburys noodles for zero noodles :j

    Ta sweetie

They feed of each other. I imagine it would be hard to be part of that and say 'I think we should stop now'. Don't matter, crash comin. Daft babies, they should put their wives in my position. They would be outraged :)

    Maybe their wives gotta know?

Saving that gem for if the whole 'procedural' doesn't work. :rotfl:

Happy times - I've had nice food and a good catch up. Life isn't that bad chez Mercy :D

Gained another 3lb this week but decided I'm not going to get discouraged. I originally began a Low Carb diet for health reasons and if I lost weight then that was a bonus. So I will continue with the Low Carb whatever happens.

With Chronic Lyme Disease the body temperature rarely gets above 37 degrees as the bacteria which cause the disease keep the body at a temperature suitable for them to thrive. Another 'symptom' of Chronic Lyme Disease is unexplained weight gain, so perhaps it is the Lyme Disease that is the reason for my gain and not the way I have been eating, as I have been very good for the last two weeks. I do however think that the Greek Yoghurt and the aubergines may have affected my weight and so I will once again cut those out. I have also been changing my treatment of the disease slightly. I am stopping using Samento (Cats Claw) and swapping to using Aerobic Oxygen and taking detox baths. The idea is to try and remove toxins (secreted by the bacteria to regulate the body temperature), raise my body temperature and so get rid of the bacteria. Perhaps the change in treatment is also affecting my weight in some way.

Just read it and what it says is true. I couldn't get a diagnosis from the NHS I had to go to a private consultant which I can no longer afford. I am registered has having ME (again privately diagnosed) because the NHS don't recognise that I have Chronic Lyme Disease. The current NHS testing is not thorough enough and does not detect the infection.

What that article does not say is that new research has shown that the disease is not only got by a tick bite but it can also be passed from human to human in the same way as Aids. My mum has the same symptoms as me, my dad was from India, I've visited both India and Africa in the past where the disease is prevalent so I have had more exposure to ways of catching the disease. My consultant reckons I have had this since I was 10 yrs old, I will be 50 next month.

    Hellooooo

Just been reading through all your posts and this seems a busy and friendly place to drop into..... my favourite subject too-- food. I'm initially on this site with the idea of managing my debts, though the idea of losing weight appeals too. Not massive amount -- just 1-2 stones--- and that would make the difference.

I do tend to eat low carbs-- usually cut out potatoes. Must say since trying to keeping a closer watch on my grocery bill I have been spending more on bread as that is quite filling when there is less to choose from in the fridge-- but probably not the best idea.

My best way of losing weight have been to do a fair amount of juicing fruit/veg. Luckily I do not have any condition (apart from the usual getting older that I can't avoid). Always love to go walking.

Happy Sunday and weight losing too you all :-)
  • Hi everyone!

    Can I join please?!

I have recently started low carbing and must say, I have felt great!! However, this last week, I have felt things have been getting on top of me and have had a bit of a carb fest! How does everyone motivate themselves to get back to it?!!

I hadn't lost weight as yet but felt like i had made great progress as hadn't binged for a long time which as a previous issue of mine. I am not using it as an excuse but this last week I have had tonsilitis (on penicillin) and it's also nearly 'that time' (sorry for tmi)! I also have been referred for a scan to investigate and this has left me a bit anxious (in case it shows anything nasty). All in all, it has made me 'crave' the carbs again, and this in itself took me by suprise as I had felt so good. And now I feel like I've opened some kind of carb 'floodgates' again.

I know realistically the only way is to get my backside into gear and make sure I am stocked with low carb groceries, but I just wondered how everyone else gets round this?

I'm not sure if i have asked before on here, but how many carbs do people ususally have in order to lose weight? And do you follow set meal plans - like 3 meals and 2 snacks for e.g?

Great thread by the way. I started to read it and keep dipping in and out of it but am loving te recipes. I have one for tuna mousee which is nice to have with veg sticks - shall i just post it in a regular post or somewhere special so it appears on the front page? I am no good at links and things!!!

Keep up the good work all!

just wondering what you all think about the calories on this diet. I know we are measuring carbs, but some of the fats especially are so high in calories , for example a 300ml pot of double cream has just under 1'500 calories for only 4.8 carbs. If you ate cream for a day for 20 carbs then you would have eaten 6'000 calories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The atkins diet advises how much to limit your cheese intake to per day due to the high calorie content, but what about the butters and creams and coconut, etc. And there is no mention of the saturated fats that these contain and that are the ones that stick to the sides of your arteries.

It seems to me that whatever way of eating you are on, if you eat more calories than your body burns off each day your body is still going to store that excess energy and you will put weight on.
    any thoughts?

I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it better but I have read that your body can't metabolise fat without carbs. And that fat metabolism burns more calories.
Also there is the simple fact that you are so much less hungry on a low carb diet. If you ate a pot of cream you probably just wouldn't want to eat anything else. I find I only get hungry if I start to let the carbs creep back in (usually in the form of chocolate!)

oopsadaisydoodle. I find having low carb treats handy works for me. I know not everyone approves but I sometimes make low carb cakes, biscuits, icecream etc. Because otherwise I will eat the high carb versions.
I have never properly counted carbs but started off following recipes from Rose Elliot until I got the hang of it. I lost 1 and 1/2 stone eating dark chocolate and drinking red wine and lattes (as well as sensible food!). I haven't lost any more for 6 months but am so close to my target weight that I don't even try but I do still low carb in general because I feel so much healthier.
