thanks, i have just realised it was DURHAM_MIM who keeps eating the cherry cookies and making me want some! so, durham_mim, if you see this, how do you make your cherry cookies? thank you!:D
I just use pink_princess's raspberry cookie recipe and replace the raspberries with cherries as according to my Atkins book they have the same amount of carbs. I buy the frozen cherries from Sainsbury's defrost them slightly and then blitz them with a hand blender. I then add this to the cookie mixture.
Menu
B: Scrambled eggs & 3 rashers of bacon
L: 2 slices of LC malt loaf, 2 LC cherry cookies. 3 tbsps greek yogurt.LC Chicken 'enchilades' with cajun celeriac wedges & roasted aubergine. 2 squares 81% chocolate
Snack: Salted almonds.Weight loss 0/2st

Well cookies has it! YAY! For cookies. Not tried any yet but will be doing soon :j
My news is that though I've been bothered by IBS a diary link up has made it quite obvious that it is stress related.
I've been bullied at work for over 6 months by 2 grown men. Always covert, never obvious.
Bullying is hard to prove when it's one word against another. However, yesterday one of them messed up and a third party became involved. YAY! I was starting to feel paranoid
Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end of that nonsense. Still a way to go but I feel so much better. Learning that I don't have a thyroid problem helped immensely. Made it important to look elsewhere.
I've had IBS but thought it was a Thyroid problem as I didn't associate my health with work at all. Looking at my diaries I see a definite correlation.
I have been changing my diet to eliminate foods etc but the flare ups coincide with about 1 week before I discover that all my movements are being recorded. And also about a week before I find out they are doing it again.
Doesn't matter what I eat I feel rubbish and my IBS doesn't care what I eat. :rotfl:
Hopefully, my new found confidence - I'm not eating wrong stuff, I don't have another intolerance etc - it's just them, will help me make better choices like we all should.
Because I have indulged myself. I've felt rotten and eaten things I should really not. Like an icecream. Them felt guilty. But my weight hasn't changed. Maybe burnt off with stress?
Well, whatever. I know my problem now. That is the first step.
I feel sorry for the people in this world who need to put others down to feel better about themselves. They need help - though they will not seek it. They need help.
Bowing out now. I know I have a lot of help here and within me.
If you are feeling stressed it can effect your discipline and your attitude to yourself and your diet. If this is the case, try to isolate that stress to find out where it is coming from. You can put it in a mental box then. It may still come out to bug you but if it has a box to go back to, you can put it back.
Thanks for putting up with my witters :rotfl:
I love all low carbers and send you blessings. You are ace! :j

Hi All
Just thought id share with you my experience.
Last June i made up my mind to lose weight, ive been Obese since my early twenties (now 48) and weighed in at 17 st 10 lb.(5`11" tall)
I went down the low carb route, read every book going, scoured the internet and stuck to it.
Within a couple of months id noticably lost weight,i was in a 40 inch waist pants and a 48 inch jacket in June and had to go a size down in both quite quickly.
Firstly i chucked out the tea/coffee and sugar.
Bought some authentic Chinese green gunpowder tea leaves and started brewing and swigging loads of it lol.
The only problem i was finding was when i was out of the house and hungry.I soon got tired of buying a packet of ham or a tin of tuna.So i made sure that i always had something in the car or in my lunchbox to snack on.
My favourite items were salads (huge ones with rocket, endive watercress, olives all topped with either chicken, boiled eggs or fish) and a six pack of pork scratchings in the glovebox for those occasional times when only something crunchy would do.
The cold evenings last winter (have they ended?) were a little bit of a challenge when i craved a nice hot rice pudding and settled for a sugar free jelly with natural yogurt and splenda YAY lol.
I soon settled into a routine of having three favourite main meals.
1) A huge salad (i never knew you could get so much on a plate ha) all topped with a chilli, garlic and herb olive oil dressing and either a chicken breast or big piece of grilled fish.
2) A huge (getting the theme yet lol) portion of steamed cauliflower, half a tub of low carb garlic cheese spread and fresh chillis (sometimes with chicken and grilled mushrooms)
3) Roasted veg feast which is red/green/yellow peppers, cougette, baby tom, sprouts, coupla small carrots all sprayed with olive oil, garlic, chilli, paprika and herbs in the oven.
This is what i follow still and snack on a handful of wholenuts (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts and a couple of brazils) if im hungry.
Although bread is a no no,i now allow one slice of Bergen soya and linseed per day.
Deserts are berries, natural yog and the occasional sugar free jelly.
Treats are red wine,95% cocoa choc the very occasional snacksize choc bar
I was worried about losing muscle tone so started a gentle exercise programme two weeks into my diet plan ( around June 15th) I soon bought weights afterwards and by september i was heaving them about every other day and started to see results.I was looking more defined.
Here we are in May,almost a year later.
Im at 12 stone 4.
Have a 40 inch chest and 31 inch waist,i must say im so glad i started an exercise programme, otherwise,i think i would be lighter but flabby.
Ive never felt better in my life and my biggest regret was that i didnt do it earlier (stupid boy!)
I look back at pics taken of me and cant believe its me!
To all those who are dieting, dont give up,keep at it and you will see results. There were weeks when i stayed the same weight,i just carried on regardless and sure enough it gradually came off.
Thanks for reading my nonsense lol ...0 -
Wow notanothernumpty! What a truly inspirational story.
Thanks so much for sharing it.Keep up the good work.xx0 -
Well done, notanothernumpty and thank you for sharing. I've been LC for exactly a year now but have only lost 1st. I am restricted with exercise due to having Chronic Lyme Disease. I am pleased with what I have achieved so far as I knew it would take me longer than most fit and healthy people.
Menu
B: Fried egg with 2 rashers of bacon
L: Left over mexican chicken with salad. 2 tbsp Greek style yoghurt. 2 LC cherry cookies.Mince, mashed swede, carrots, broccoli & cabbage. 2 squares 81% chocolate.
I was so full yesterday I didn't have the almonds!Weight loss 0/2st

Hi all. Great stories, nice to be reminded that there is a very good reason why we follow the route we do. Well done.
Mercy, you are right (as always) stress has a big part to pay in eating habits - obviously it can go one way or the other, i.e. under or over-eating, or stomach/bowel problems - it generally takes an outsider to give you the 'insight' as to where problems may lie, but you seem to have sorted it yourself now, so good for you
I made PP's cookies yesterday - a orange and cinnamon variety with added dark choc orange chips - but forgot to put in any sweetening!. The kitchen has smelt lovely ever since but although we thought they would be ok, they aren't, they need the sweetness, but do have great potential.:D I hate waste - thankfully I only used 1/2 the recipe amount - so the birds are having a treat.
I'm going to try again in a bit. As there was no method, I just put everything in a bowl, combined it all, flattened out small balls of the mix and baked at 180 until lightly golden. Does that sound about right?0 -
Success! :j I think they would be even better with more choc chips though, I only put a sprinkling in.0

Couldn't not post after reading recent posts.
Mercy - how awful that grown men are behaving in this way, they must have a low mental age and think they are still in the schoolground  I'm glad you've figured out the stress link with their behaviour towards you, it is always better when you understand why things happen. You must be relieved that someone else has become aware of their behaviour, hopefully this may be enough for them to stop, but if not at least someone else can now back you up. Sending you lots of luck in getting these idiots off your back for good.
notanothernumpty - what an inspirational story. To achieve that in under a year is amazing, you must be so pleased. Sounds like you plan to continue with low carb - it's funny how most people that start tend to stick with it, I think it has such a combination of benefits, not only losing weight, but feeling generally healthier and in control, and not ever feeling full and bloated, or starving. Liked a couple of the food options you mentioned so may give them a try thank you! The steamed cauli with garlic cheese sounds tasty and quick, as does the roasted veggie feast.
Just come out of the kitchen myself having cooked up things ready for next week. This last week has been absolutely awful at work, so stressful and long hours. And next week is most definitely going to be similar so I need to be prepared. With that in mind I did one of my favourites which I'll look forward to after a hard day at work, and which I've not had for ages - paneer and coconut masala. YUM
Hope everyone has a good weekend despite the rain. I for one am happy to just have some time to spend around the house for once, not rushing around everywhere.0 -
Thanks for niceness!
These boys are a set of *****
Bunch of *****
and a bag of ********
But getting my head around not having 'real' problems - just stress induced ones - means I can tackle the source of my stress.
Thanks for letting me sound off here. It really helps to let it all out.:rotfl::T
Today menu
Brunch: Sliced bacon cooked in own juices in pan, 3eggs then added gently to spaces dabbed with butter made between bacon pieces. Scraps of brie added to 'white bits' Black pepper and a sprinkle of turmeric added. Cooked slowly until starting to see egg setting. Left on No1 on electric hob for 5 mins. Slid out onto plate with yolks still half runny. Eaten with glee.:D
Good afternoon meet with Bro, 2 pints of strongbow.
Eve : Hot roast pork with fresh peppers, cherry toms and mustard.
Back on track, mostly. :rotfl:
Feeling quite good :j
Cheers peeps!
