cheers, hun!
I will check that out. May wait till after hols as not much time to use before then. So you will have chance to post your verdict, too!
Been looking at a cabbage kimchi which has julienned carrots and mooli too. Looks amazing so may well check that out before sauerkraut.
Today I discovered that the 1kg pots which we get Lidl's yog in can survive the dishwasher. Reckon they'd be good to ferment in so saved it for laterFood grade plastic and a good airtight seal.
Daska - I'll check that out - sounds right up my street!

Airtight = explosive if the fermentation really gets going. If you want to do large quantities I recommend the Bodum Presso range. The spaghetti jar is a borosilicate glass jar with a plastic lid and silicon seal and, while it's a good enough fit to prevent insects, there is a small vent that will prevent the pressure building up too far.
I'm a fan of Lidl yogurt pots as well, I sometimes put DS2's breakfast in one and hang it from the handle of the scooter if I haven't managed to get him to eat it all.
And, whilst not at all moneysaving, I've just ordered a Spiralizer. I have a hand held julienne cutter and a mandolin that does a julienne cut as well but I don't really get on with either and they both seem to have a lot of wastage. I've also ordered a Dehydrator. Definitely can't afford them but have been dropping hints for far too long and they've all been ignored so it looks as if I have to buy my own LOLEat food. Not too much. I use a very sharp knife to julienne but somewhere buried in the under the sink cupboard aka useless-gadgets-my-mother-gave-me-cupboard is a Borner mandolin with attachments which might work. The julienne peeler she bought me from Lakeland was useless and I cut myself.
Have made yogurt before but didn't like it so my mother got the yogurtmaker. OH has tried making wine from our grapes but it's a long process and he always gets bored and gives up. The basil in the propagator is doing well but the salad leaves look more like leggy cressHave thought about getting a seed sprouter for salads. Sauerkraut.. not keen myself. Lurve pickled gherkins, eggs, onions, beetroot though. Was going to preserve some lemons for summer salads but found OH had nicked the 5LTR Le Parfait jar for bonemeal in the shed. So I think I manage about one Brownie point for the basil and salad leaves !
I eat/drink dairy although not much Lactofree now. I couldn't face more than a cheese omelette for breakfast cheese wise but my mother says there is something called the Oslo Diet which involved cheese for breakfast.
According to Dr Robert Lustig MD, leptin and insulin compete on the same pathway to the brain and if you're producing too much insulin the leptin can't tell the brain that you're full. Having lived in Canada I've experienced enough cold for a lifetime and I'm not taking ice baths to reset my leptin. I'll be reading what Dr John Briffa from UK has to say on leptin cos generally he's sensible0 -
hiya

Evening..
Had a terrible day in work but a good day of IF, no doubt i'll be rubbish on my day off tomorrow.0 -
Well done with sticking to it mazzers and nuttybabe. :T
Weigh day tomorrow. Supposed to rain hard all day so will go out as soon as shops open as looking after DGD (dear granddaughter age 2.)
Think I'll give the bike a miss as will get enough exercise running around:D
If I don't lose I will give it another 2 weeks and then consider IF or similar. Please let me know how you get on
Not into fermented items as have never liked them. Don't like vinegar or wine either. Interesting to read though as it reminds me of my grandmother who used to brew ginger beer and there were always interesting smells and the odd explosion :rotfl:
Mercy - a week of no tobacco so how are you feeling?
Trying to keep to 35 carbs a day, using coconut oil and bike to speed up metabolism so should lose.

Hi everyone

I HAVE LOST 8 POUNDS so far!! so happy, feeling a lot better! I am however having really bad constipation sorry TMI but I know I needed to go but didn't have the urge, had a glass of diet coke and very quickly needed to go! How can I help this? I have been drinking around three litres of water.
I really feel like I can do it now, I am feeling alot happier already0 -

Well done you! :j
Constipation - are you eating enough salt? A simple way of increasing it is to drink some bouillon (stock cube) dissolved in hot water twice a day.
And again on the constipation front - are you eating enough fat? Throw some olive oil on your salad and use plenty of butter for cooking. If you're feeling flush see if you can get hold of some virgin coconut oil - eat by the spoon if you feel like it, or use for cooking.
(I'm assuming you are eating plenty of green leafy veg)
