Hey I'm still alive just crazy busy with uni work and helping out with freshers events etc. Will be back soon, honest! The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Otherwise, you are bound to lose a truck, sooner or later. Source: Sergio Cha

Hello all, hope everyone is well.
It's been very quiet on here recently, I think September must have given everyone that back to school feeling.
Well, I am planning to start a year of frugal living in 2 hours and as usual I am disatrously unprepared:o. I have no food or wine in, I still have some more clothes I want to buy (I am going to put the money to one side and wait for an M&S code, it would be silly to get them today and spend more just so I can start with a clean slate) so that is going to be £80 ish and I am declaring it now so it doesn't look like I have caved by week 1 when I do get them.
I have no idea how I am going to manage, how long I will last and only a vague idea of what things are out or in, I am going to judge it entirely by how much I can add to my ISA and house fund. I am getting a house and nothing will stop me.(Except meeting a man who already has one obviously, I would be stupid to turn down a free house:D.)Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Hi Sarah, great idea about putting the money aside until you get a code. A great start to your frugal living
Ok, everyone know's you'll have your moments, you're only human but you've just gotta try and keep on track, you might have the odd slip but just get straight back onto it. Easy enough for me to say when I'm not the one doing  But you've got something to aim for so it will be totally worth it. You want a house so much keep remembering that.
I may have already asked you before but do you do the scratchcards? It might only be £30 a year you get but it's £30 for nothing! And take a minute out of your day!
I've had the worst eating day ever... Today I've had nesquik cereal, a currant square, sausage roll, scotch pie, 2 pork n pickle pies, half a pizza, 90% of a tube of pringles, 6 vienesse whirls, 2 pints fizzy vimto. And a huge piece of cake in my fridge waiting to be eaten-but now I've wrote all that down I think I'm going to go and throw that cake in the bin.
I all of a sudden feel very sick and sad _pale_ I'm a heart attack waiting to happen _pale_Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80

Thanks Bowski, I shall have to look into that, I know you love doing them. I got bored with all the cashback site clicking though as I lose patience very easily. However, I am going to try to make every penny count so I shall investigate further.

My post actually made me cry..which I don't think is such a bad thing! The reason it bothers me is
1- this kind of eating doesn't happen every so often, ok it's not everyday but it is a regular occurance.
2- I'd eaten 4 v.whirls before DD got home from the cinema and then actually hid the other 2 under the sofa coz I know she'd want one and I wanted them. That is just so greedy.
3- Most importantly I've got a DD than needs me and looks upto me, I'm setting her a really bad example and even worse I might not be around for much longer if I carry on like that. It scares me and it's just disgusting :mad:Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80

Gosh, Bowski, don't be so hard on yourself.
You have done really well with the 'no choc' thing this month. Are you going to continue with that?
I'm trying not to buy things like cakes and stuff as I'm so bad for eating the lot once opened (although instead of buying stuff have been making hob nobs instead so not sure that is better :rolleyes:)
I keep meaning to follow a diet called Sonoma diet that I did last year. I did well on it, at first was really hard and I did feel hungry at times but was funny how quickly I stopped craving sweet things and I did have more energy - especially in evenings and felt a lot better.
For me problem is that I really need to be in the right frame of mind for this to work and I don't feel like I'm in the zone at the moment!
Anyway you've over 6 mths til your Dad's wedding so there is plenty of time for you to make a big difference.
Sarah - good luck with frugality!
I took first step towards ebaying tonight and photographed three items ready.
Hopefully can get those listed in next few daysI've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -

Bowski, I am the same, I eat carp because I can't be bothered to cook/I deserve a treat/I'm unhappy etc. I do it a lot. I have just thrown out about £6 worth of perfectly decent meat which had gone out of date because I was eating rubbish instead. That's part of the reason I am trying to be penny pinching, I am sick of throwing out food I could use if I wasn't so wasteful.
I have also hidden food to stop other people getting it, in fact I was thinking today just how much of my life and how my moods revolve around food, "If I do this rubbish/boring thing I have to do I'll stop at McDonald's later," "it's the weekend," "I'm depressed," "I'm lonely," etc, etc. Everything revolves around food. Everything.
I try not to have rubbish in the house but as I have about 100 takeaways within a 5 min walk it doesn't really make any difference. So anyway, you are not alone in this Bowski, I really do know how you feel.
I know it's a cycle I have to break and soon because I hate being fat but I just can't stop, it is so difficult when you are busy and you live by yourself and there is no one to look good for anyway.
As regards dd, at least if you know you may be having an effect on her, that gives you something to aim for. It must be very hard for you being surrounded by yummy food each day at work. I don't know what to suggest as I am the last person to be giving advice on food as I am beginning to realise I have a major problem, but could you do something like getting dd involved in meal preparation? If you are doing it together you may be less likely to eat carp. Sorry if that's a rubbish suggestion, I don't have children.
Tomorrow I start my new plan of taking lunch to work and chewing my food properly and only snacking on fruit. We wil see how long that lasts but I have to do something because I am approaching 40 as a fatty and I am sick of it.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

(((((hugs))))) Bowski! And *high five* Sarahb for your first day of austerity. :T
I'm afraid I didn't read the sensible advice not to spend money on cat toys and have blown £50 today.Mostly on this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIgdVucDeVU&feature=fvw
I'm overweight too, about three stone over my 'fighting weight'.I've been too greedy for too long .... I even have Gillian Riley's book on overeating which I have never actually read! Part of the solution for me is to be disciplined at the supermarket, I won't buy takeaways. Can you not have money with you at danger times, Bowski? Walk a different way so you don't pass the danger shop?

Hi everyoneThey've taken Noah down from the Cats Protection site as he is reserved!
But there are before and after at the bottom of this page:
Hi .. omg what had happened to him?!
I think a lot of cats would like the Turbo Track but in my experience they will always prefer doing anything you don't want them to do (sleeping on your computer, pouncing on your paperwork, attacking your feet while you're asleep) to anything you've deliberately organised..!.0
