Re: cheap eating, I'm thinking of going semi-vegetarian. I do like pulses and lentils and they are way cheaper than meat (especially as I prefer to buy British meat and also Freedom meat / organic/ free range...basically anything vaguely ethical)
I was thinking maybe eating veggie at home and then when I go out I can eat meat??I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Forgot to mention this, Ikea is doing a special offer thing whereby you take in 5 books that can be sold in a charity shop (Save the children) and they give you a £5 voucher.
The way my green met / amazon-ing is going so far that is a much better return on my books!
Not sure if you can take in 10 and get two vouchers?
It's a bit of a trek to Ikea for me, but worth it for the voucher maybe?I've got my own flat :j:j

Ooh, thanks for that make up, I have an ikea nearby and lots of spare books:D
Also, I believe that you get what you think about so even though you don't want to get your hopes up, my advice is to start thinking of the chapel as yours and it will be:jPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
SBC - good to know if all else fails can move to the North East. Is that house in a really dodgy area or something or is that typical prices for that part of the world?
The estate it is on was featured in that Secret Millionaire programme a while back & they said it's the most impoverished estate in England but it doesn't have a bad reputation with regards to crime. The price is also because the property developer bought a load of houses in that street just before the crash & got into a bit of difficulty so is now trying to sell some quickly at a loss just to generate some turnover.
That's in Easington Colliery & less than 2 miles away in Easington Village there's a similar house in the next street to my BTL that's on the market for £125k0 -

Hmmmm have been pondering this myself. I was veggie many years ago but struggled to maintain iron levels & got rejected from blood donor sessions a few times. I do eat some meat but also the habit of using quorn as a substitute has really stuck & DD has grown up on it too. I always use the mince for spag bols, shepherds pies etc. In spite of this she is a confirmed & unashamed carnivore & I'm not up for doing separate meals for us so we do have meat every other day.
Your plan is a good one but if the ethics are your main concern then I think you might struggle with eating out at places where the meat is organic or free range unless it is a specific ethos of the eaterie. I generally tend to do it the other way round so that I know for sure what the meat we have is & usually eat veggie when we're out ... DD has her own set of ethics; chickens look evil, so deserve to be eaten, pigs smell & have no other purpose & a cow once chased her so tough luck to all the others :rolleyes:0 -

I am thinking of going semi-vegetarian when Mr. Fire Fox leaves - to save money, get back into my healthy eating (I used to be hardcore) and balance out the meat the new cat will be eating. Thought I might intentionally eat pulses on a daily basis and free range eggs regularly so that meat would naturally become less of a focus.
Having willed myself not to crack open a bottle of cheap plonk yesterday I have caved in already today! I am drinking Italian so fewer air miles than my preferred origin of New Zealand. :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

You've totally got me there...I didn't even think about that.
My reasoning was that if I'm eating out, I'd like to have something I really enjoy and I often order meat that I don't cook at home venison / duck / lamb.
I should probably join an OS grocery challenge and see where I can make savings.
I have to say making a massive batch of hobnobs although not very healthy has stopped me buying my normal carpy (and expensive) snacks...I've got my own flat :j:j

Sorry to be cat-obsessed but I'm ridiculously excited ... I'm getting Noah the white boy whose paws were in such a terrible state when he came in!! :jDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
