Hello all you lovely F Fabulous people!!

Since my holiday (which was amazing!) I've been really busy doing nothing and have lent my sister my laptop alot so not had chance to get online for any length of time. It seems I have it back for good now though so tonite I finally had chance to read all of the new thread and the end of the old one. I'm glad everyone is still good and fabulous!

All the small print really cracks me up, I love it! If I typed what I'd eaten this last month then it would all be smallprint! :( Anyways I'm back and would like to get back on the wagon. I'm going camping next week so I won't start until a week on Monday.
I need to get back to my MSE ways too. Although I'm not in anymore debt i'm angry I've not saved a single penny since I was last here. That's sad! But it will change.

I'm staying in tomorrow night so i'll be up for a chat if anyone's around. I'll update my sig and stuff then. Really struggling to keep my eyes open just now.

Happy easter everyone. Hope you's all have a great weekend!!

I have really really really missed coming on here :o

Allo to all you F Fabulous ones

Buffy - thanks for those organising links. :T I've had a quick browse, and they look really good. I have been fantasising about a capsule wardrobe, although I don't think I'll manage to pare it down quite as much as in the article. :p eBay turbolister, here I come... (Now all I need to do is remember 10 minutes at a time, and just get on with it.)

Bowski - I'm with you on the small print. :D Yesterday is not too bad for once:

Orange juice, coffee, bran flakes, guacomole, tortilla chips, olives, bread, chicken risotto, mangetout, broccoli, carrots, 1.5 litres water, large fruit salad (melon, pineapple, mango), more coffee, shortbread finger, tea.

Shoe Gal & Sarah - you both sound very positive and in full organising mode. Hope your influence is working its way across tinternet, as I should be tidying etc today, but am currently loitering on here and browsing bags on eBay, which is not quite what I had in mind. However, in the spirit of declaration, this is my list for today, so let's see how far I can get/have got so far:
    • balance bank accounts and update budget spreadsheet (done)
    • do daily free scratchcards and other clicks (done)
    • do 2 loads of washing (one in)
    • have lunch with my mum, who is cooking for me (what a sweetie)
    • sort out, iron and take pics of at least 20 items for eBay from eBaying corner in study (there's a large stack behind the door)
    • make at least 1 bag recycling, and one bag rubbish/jumble/charity shop donation, depending on what is found in the study
    See you later ;)

Hi all, I have weighed myself and I appear to have lost 3lbs:j 2 of those are probably the ones I keep yo-yoing between, but they still count:D I wonder if it is to do with cutting out bread as I have not had any for a week now. I have tried to be sensible but I have had a few slip ups so bread is the only thing I can think of that may have made a difference.

Am still trying to work through the black hole that is my room, I have 1 and a half bags of books to take to the charity shop but am going to try and make it 3, so I am going to have another ruthless search through them, plus I need to carry on with all the housework type things I usually do over the weekend.

Can I ask what any of you would do in this situation?

I locked my keys in my car boot last Saturday. I was really upset and it took me 10 minutes to realise I could call the AA and so called them. I went to greet them as they were arriving in a couple of minutes, to find my dad hanging out of my car, he had smashed (accidentally he said) one of the windows. It ended up costing me £75.

He refuses to pay as he thinks that I get paid enough and it's my fault I'm in debt and that if I didn't have debt then I could afford to pay the £75 of damage he caused. I'm at the point I can't sleep at night worrying about my debt.

Sorry to gatecrash but don't know what I need to do.

Hi Pink twirl, what a crappy situation. I think you have said before that you don't get on too well with your dad and I am a bit puzzled as to how someone can "accidentally" break a car window. What a strange thing to happen.

Anyway, re the bill, I think you are going to have to just suck it up and pay it, there is no other way round it, I don't think your dad is going to accept responsibility for the "accident" and any arguing is just going to upset you further.

If you are awake at night worrying about your debts then put up an SOA or tell us about it, have you looked at ShoeGal's diary thread? There are lots of ideas on there for making/saving money on the last few pages.

I think you will feel a lot more confident and in control of your finances if you have a plan. I am sorry you feel so down about what ahs happened, but try to look at it positively if you can, use it to spur you on. I can imagine how you feel as your dad reminds me very much of one of my relatives, but what's done is done, let it go and carry on.

I think your main priority may be to get out of the family home once and for all, so you need to make a plan, it will not happen overnight but you need to take the first steps. If you need any help or ideas come back on here and we will be able to help you.

Deep breaths, chin up, have a cup of tea and start a plan, hope you feel a bit calmer now xxx

    Thanks Sarah,

It's mostly the reason I haven't been on since Christmas. I was really down and to be honest have not paid anything off my debts when I was aiming by now to have paid £5K off. I went backwards and went mad spending.

I can't do an SOA right now as I don't know if I will have a job in 7 weeks. Will pay what I can and get on with it. At least I'm not as miserable as before so can join in the lighter conversations.

    Thanks for the post. :o

We've all done that;), so don't beat yourself up about it.

I know it's difficult to plan ahead when you don't know what is going to happen, but try to be positive, hopefully you will be able to keep your job and if not then maybe something better will come along.

In the meantime you can still keep hammering the debts, I would advise concentrating on the lowest one and throwing everything you can at that, you might surprise yourself with how much you can pay off. You could put it in your sig to motivate you and update everytime you pay something off it.

Well, I'm at least down to the the level of debt I was at 18 months ago now. I ran up 22K of debt in a year, god knows how. The power of anti-depressants after a break-up. The complete inability to feel anything good or bad, never mind alarm at overspending.

I have decided no more alcohol unless I'm out with people, no red wine in front of the tv, no more big expenditures. Food budgets.

I've been going for interviews but keep coming second for jobs. I got really down about it so ended up spending. Was refused for a job after a second interview just before xmas and that really felt like a blow to my self-confidence, I felt useless and went spending.

Time to get on with it again now.

I'll do my signature again, took it off before because it felt totally hopeless.

    Thanks :o
