Yes as the effect of the Betfair 5% commission is greater at higher odds.

However it depends how close the odds are: e.g. odds of 8 and 8.2 return £23.31, but odds of 1.6 and 1.7 return £23.03.

You see this why I'm finding this confusing, numbers are def not my thing.

Surely 1.6 and 1.7 are closer together?? as only 0.1 between them but 8 and 8.2 have 0.2 between them?????:confused:

Oh well I've now qualified for my free bet and it should be in there by tomorrow morning.

My extensive football knowledge tells me that footballers don't get bank holidays off and so I should be able to do a bet for Monday....and finally get some cash!!!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Yep that's why it's confusing. I have two answers to this, the first of which I may struggle to explain.

    - The difference between 1.6 and 1.7 is 6% of the lower figure. The difference between 8 and 8.2 is only 2.5% of 8. So although as numbers 1.6 and 1.7 are closer together in one way, in relation to each other 8 and 8.2 are closer together.

    - Alternatively ignore that explanation, just try different numbers in the spreadsheet and look at the return on your money for different odds. The return is the main thing, and you'll get a feel for the best sort of odds over time.

Yay! The first bet is the most difficult, and it is quite motivating when you've succeeded and actually have more money than you started with.

I was going to answer this question this morning with answer number one, then stopped myself thinking 'No, what the hell do you know about MB, Gwen?' But maybe I can get my head around it after all.

Anybody seen Hollyberry recently, she's been very quiet and I know she wanted to do some matched betting?

    Gwenx
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

Yeah things like that are more just maths than MBing I guess. I wasn't particularly good at (or interested in) maths, spreadsheets or football before starting MBing - and I'm still not! But you do start to understand a bit about the maths behind it when you're actually doing it.

She said on Monday evening that she'd be joining us soon.

I have fixed my e-mail so I'm getting notifications again when someone posts on here. Also my e-mails from the last few days arrived, including some betting offers. In case it's in any way helpful or motivational, here's what I've been up to MBing-wise:

Betfair: £50 if your £50 bet loses. Layed at another exchange to make £40.
Bet24: £50 bonus if you deposit £100. Bet £150 on Bayern Munich for £44 profit.
Betclick: £10 bonus if you deposit £10. Bet £20 on Inter Milan for £8 profit.
Coral: £10 free bet if you bet £10. Lost 30p on the qualifier (Blackburn), now waiting for the free bet to be added. Should make at least £9 from it.

So although I don't sign up to new bookies any more, I've made £100 in the last week or so just from e-mailed offers.

I'm tempted to open a bottle but have a few chores to finish off first.

Not yet and anyway I only have pickled onions, not gherkins, so I'm not sure whether they would be interested?

Is there a tiny blue bar across the bottom of the screen? If so hover over it until your cursor turns into a black arrow pointing upwards, and then click and drag the blue bar upwards to make it bigger.

There is no tiny blue bar that I can see, when I minimise all the pages I can see the tabs at the bottom for each one along with the time, speakers, internet connection icon (ie what I always used to see and the thing I want back) etc but when I maximise the screen that bit disappears and it just says internet, protected mode on and the zoomlevel icon. I have tried hovering on that but the arrow doesn't change.
