The canary fell into a crusher and was spread along the conveyor belts, sorry.
I'm doing better though, only have to work a 4 day week now so got fridays off :D I do start work at 6.30 though :(
I still have no furniture though except for a futon sofa and two tables which turned up today.
I've updated my blog, kind of. www.a-year-in-oz.blogspot.com

Sarah: you're debt free now? Well done!

Hey TDQ & welcome to not working on fridays :) I dont either - it's against my principles ;)

Good luck with the futon thing ... I slept on one of those for a couple of years :(
Glad you're ok though, stop pimping your blog - I've already posted on there ;)

Ossireo, I must have missed that bit, what training are you doing? Hope it is going well.

Actually doing ECDL through the Jobcentre via a local training place .. however I am the only one there doing ECDL (which is depressingly easy, have now taken in my book keeping work to fill in the gaps of time I have nothing to do!) the others are doing basic PC skills and its also hit me hard and fast that I am actually one of 'them' now .. the long term unemployed ... and I dont like it *pout* ... I've always been the one on the 'other' side of the fence giving out the decisions not this side, and yes its by means of the lone parent card, yes I have paid into the system for 18 years so I shouldn;t feel guilty .. but god I feel terrible about it all now and would much rather be working. Maybe I am just turning into a snobby mare or something :o

Hoping the course will also help me tart up my CV and give me the ability to sell myself well for a change! Made me laugh when my advisor said I am the only Lone Parent she has that wants to work and she has seen me more then anyone lol!

Ooo that was almost a soapbox post ... btw please dont anyone be offended if you have been on benefit for ages .. cant work etc ... I don't mean to offend with the 'them' bit, more that its so odd being a customer now, especially after being an EO grade before

    Morning one and all :D

Oss - I can relate to what you are saying about being one of "them". I never ever thought I would be a single parent and it is hard to adjust to and to take any help that is offered to you.

Not much been offered to me yet though I rang the benefits people and when I told them how much I earn they laughed. I mean I know I earn a good wage but its not loads and I "thought" rather stupidly I might get something :rotfl:

    Hi Doodledo

Actually been a single parent so to speak for last 5 years, its not too bad tbh. I only started being entitled to stuff when my hours dropped to 20 per weeks when I was battling depression & anxiety, still found it ludicrous that I was a management grade in the government yet they pay so little I could be entitled to Benefit

Book mark Entitledto and every time you have a change of circs just do a run through it to check any entitlements you may have etc. It, of course, will not cover more unusual circumstances, but it can be a good guide, especially if you decide to reduce hours etc :)

Anyway off to college for a couple of hours then manning the mothers day stall this afternoon, DS has told me I need to hide when he comes as he wants me to not know what he has bought me ;)

Thanks, am not actually debt free yet as I still have things to pay off, but I now have more in savings than I actually owe, so I am techically debt free. I will not count myself as debt free until everything is paid off which will be another couple of years:mad: but it's nice to feel that I am actually solvent for once:j
