Hi All...sorry to butt in but i need some advice from all you guru's:D
i am sharing with someone who insists that we go food shopping together...but our tastes are so different it's basically buying our own stuff (except the cleaning and store cupboard stuff) and paying half come tote up at till time.
I've split food shopping bills before and it was fine because we were a good match but i am not seeing the benefit to my pocket or sanity of buying liquid laundry soap and tablets, normal tea and decaff etc. etc. then paying half....am i being unreasonable?I find that at the end of all this we end up with a freezer full of food i don't really want to eat as well...so what to do?
Do you have any ideas of how do this amicably before a murder is committed.
thanks guys
Hey Ziggles
It does seem a bit odd to me. I can see the sense in halving bills for things like loo roll, bleach, cilit bang etc but not for other stuff.
It would never work with me and my flatmates as we have completely different tastes, for example I have skim milk, another gets semi-skim and other full fat!!
Have you tried broaching the subject with your flatmate - is he/she definite???
More roundabout ways - how about just going shopping and picking up a few bits on your own. Then when you go to the shop with your flatmate you can just chip in for communal bits??
Or say you're trying out some new diet and need to shop somewhere else or buy things on your own.....or that you are working on a new food budget and want to cut down on your spending in that area for whatever reason. (doesn't have to be to to pay off debts, could be to save up for a new car, fab holiday or just to have savings in these uncertain times).
To be honest, if you don't cook together then there is no point in going supermarket shopping and splitting bills - that's just my opinion of course!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Hello all
Well done Buffy :T:T:T hope you have started to recover.. lots of pampering required and most certainly wine earned!! Can't wait to hear about your concert Lula sounds like a top treat
Ziggles... I have had this issue in the past and I know that it can be tricky to navigate.. sharing the shopping could in theory save you both money but it sounds like this is just not working out for you ... why not suggest a shared fund for essentials such as milk, bread etc and say that you want to shop separately for 'individual' tastes?? possible compromise maybe? If not you may just have to bite the bullet and admit that this arrangement isn't quite working out for you (then run for cover!!)
Ebay are doing a free listing day on Thursday so I am planning on searching out some carp to sell later this evening... wish me luck!!! :money:FeeFee

Hi everyone and the newbies.... It's Bowski here!
I'm just on my sister's name as I don't know my log in details. Just nipping in quickly to say I've no laptop or computer at the moment so can't get online :0(
Hope you're all ok! I'll be back as soon as I get my laptop back. They did try and deliver it today while I was at work, even though I asked them to deliver it to my Mam's ...grrrr!!
Can't wait to catch up. I have caught up on the thread but not got time to write a proper post.
See you all soon0 -
Hi
How's things? I feel a bit bleurgh. Not sure if it's because I'm tired or I feel like I might be getting something (throat hurts and head feels fuzzy) or the unexpected expenses that have cropped up this week. Probably a combination of all three. Feel like I take one step forwards and three steps back.
I think I've pretty much spent all my 'spending money' of next months pay aswell. I did have a lovely meal with my friend last night and went to a concert (to see the sexiest man in the world!!) which was amazing. Shame I'll now have to stay in until the end of July though! Except Wimbledon of course, but I'm worried I'll feel fat and carp at that. I may have to do some Goddessing. Not easy though as I have tonnes of carp going on at work.
Hello to everybody though, hope you're all doing ok. Hi to all the newbies. I read some of your posts 'The Boss'. You're in the right place! Did you get the converse? I've been deliberating a pair myself.
makeup - I read your post about those guys outside your flat - how scary?! Glad you're ok and mouth is healing.
ShoeGal - You are not hopeless. You do brilliantly with your lists and Goddessing. I wish I could get half as much done.
Hello everybody else, Buffy, Rosa, Sarah, FeeFee (good job on the fella!) and everybody else.

Evening all
Ziggles - I see FeeFee and makeup have already been in to help. Can't think of anything to add, except to wish you luck. It's been a rather nice day in middle England, and I have been out scaring the growing things aka doing a bit of gardening. I've mostly been adding things to the compost heap and watering, so the growing things have heaved a collective sigh of relief.
Aside from that, I have been gathering more things to eBay. I don't suppose there is much deal of danger of me getting the contents of one blue Ikea bag, two boxes and two carrier bags listed during Thursday's free listing day, but I guess there's no harm in hoping...:rotfl::rotfl: I think I'll start by setting myself a target of ten items, then it can only get better.
Sorry you're a bitGwen - hope you're soon on the mend.
