Evening all, hope you are all well.

I wonder if someone could help me please.

My 2 year old over the last couple of weeks has started to wake up about an hour after falling asleep, very very very upset and screaming/ crying. She doesn't appear to recognise me when I go to see her and I can't calm her down.

Now I'm pretty sure these are night terrors which are quite normal at her age? But what is worrying me most is that she is shaking uncontrollably from head to toe until she calms down.
Its very worrying and desperately upsetting.

Does her behaviour sound normal for night terrors or do you think I should see the doctor?

    Thanks in advance
    xxxx

hi jenni my DD did something similar to this ( although she was a bit trembly not full on shakeing) doctor advised me to start waking her gently about 15 mins before she'd wake up so im guessing about 45 mins after she falls asleep for you... then just shhhh her back to sleep again and it should break the cycle HTH :)
I can only please one person a day.... Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either!!

Evan had night terrors, he was about 4 when they started and went on till he was 7,
The Dr's were useless, as they wanted to pump him full of sleeping meds, the advice i was given by a nurse at dentists? was to try to keep his feet uncovered and do a lavendar massage on feet and back, also to use a blissful night plugin which is available from boots, these combined measures reduced it from 3 a week to 1 every few months to none xxx
U can now get a Johnsons lavender bedtime massage lotion, which might be a starting point xxx

Thanks toniq and cmc, I'll definitely look into those plugins and that johnsons lavender and camomile looks good - will be a nice little bedtime relaxant for us both.

Its nice to know it sounds 'normal' it was the shaking that was worrying me most. She had one about half hour ago, even fell out of bed which still didn't wake her up! But now shes fast asleep again.

    Thanks again.

    HI all
jenniwren12....Rihannna (my DD) has had the odd night where she starts wimpering, it actually happened last night, I wake up straight away and just cuddle her and tell her mummys here and say shall we go shopping for princess?? (thats her favorite passtime..lol) It seems to take her mind somewhere eles, I move her to a diffrent postion and she goes straight back to sleep, with no more probs.

cmcconnell really hope dd fealing better soon xxx

im 99.999999999% positive its just chiken pox... 11 children from her nursery class got sent home with it this week so i've been expecting it and the spots are everywhere... i think she just a little unresponsive coz shes sleepy. you know how when u feel ill you just wanna be in bed i think she's just being like that. plus this is NOTHING like how she was when she had menegitus as a baby...
she in her cot and asleep now... will check on her in a bit
you lot are making me panic a bit now :(
