me again
is there a particular reason why abuse has to be reported by email and we do not have a user to PM regarding the matter?
its just that not being an microsoft outlook user, it can be a bit of a longwinded process reporting inappropriate behaviour.
or have i got the wrong end of the stick, and is there someone we can PM?
am i right in thinking that board guides can deal with things that break the board rules, but abuse can only be dealt with by abuse?

Hi
abuse has to go via the abuse email so that there is a record of it should future related problems arise,
a BG can always be pm'd to ask for advice but although we may soft delete abuse, to be viewed by the abuse team and to remove it from public view, we would still ask you to report it via the abuse email.I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Please note that Ambassadors are not moderators. Any posts you spot in breach of the Forum Rules should be reported via the report button, or by emailing forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.All views are my own and not the official line of MoneySavingExpert.0 -
There is another good reason why an e-mail must be sent. If a member were to send a private message, it wouldn't reach every member of the MSE Team.
When e-mails are sent to ...........every member of the MSE Team has access to it. This means that a response/action will be taken faster than a private message would achieve.
If you feel that you've been waiting for a reply to your e-mail, please be patient because they do sometimes receive hundreds of e-mails per day.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. The Abuse team have got their Private Messaging switched off as a result of requiring an email to be sent.
I think it might be better if, when the triangle is clicked, it takes you to a form on this website where you enter the reason why you are reporting the post and then it sends it, by email on the server, to . That way you wouldn't have to go to a seperate email program because the web server sends the email message to the abuse address.0 -

And also by doing that they can have an auto responder instead
of a manually created email that is sent back by abuse thus saving
valuable resources....
Good Idea T_M :T0 -
Just to echo the reasons given here, The abuse team all have their PM's deliberatly turned off to make sure people report abuse by email. This is because the abuse email goes to the whole forum team and we share the workload. It also means it will be picked up quicker and you will get a reply quicker.
I'll pass your comments about the form over to Webby. It sounds like a good idea if it is possible technically!
Many Thanks0 -
Can I just point out (again) that at the bottom of each page there is a Contact Us button which auto-fills in your user name etc which could presumably be adjusted to only go to the abuse team by users who don't use OE.0

I think a new form where you can only input the reason and nothing else would be more suitable, keeping the Contact form sent to Webby for site problems/registration problems.0
