Was thinking about wordsmith the other day too - we have had horrible wind and rain in the fair emerald isle, unless she has gone into hibernation to get away from it!

Alot quieter today in shop, but have been busy all week thankfully. However, I have paid a heap of debts off now, and am back to no money in the kitty again! Bummer. Thanks for all the tips guys, knowing that you do not judge me badly means alot to me. One other thing I have stood my ground on is the OH's credit card.... I counted up in 4 months he has over £2000 on it that is nothing to do with the business and it is meant to be a business card! I have asked him to cough up as I cannot sustain that - its a hell of a lot of stock I could have.

I too have a migraine today - am blaming the weather and the packet of chocolate buns a customer bought me! Having a lazy day today, although should be working!

Horace, another string to your bow! I would love to have your enthusiasm and va va voom to go and try new ventures, but am a bit of a scardy cat!

I think that Wordsmith is having a few problems, I read her diary a couple of months ago over on the Diaries board and she told us that her mother had passed away - I wasnt sure if I should have mentioned it sooner and apologise if I have caused offence in any way..I just didnt know what to say really - anyway I hope she is ok.

I am quaking in my boots TCM but am relishing the challenge already because I am feeling a bit quakey and scared, I have booked an appointment with Business Venture tomorrow morning at 9am:eek: (I will have to get up at 6am and then get two buses), well it will be the first time I have been to the chamber for advice since I officially started the business at the end of April:rolleyes: The Business Venture side of things is funded by business link and I have to take my business plan which needs to be redone:rolleyes: Mind you I don't know why I am going to the chamber seeing as they have no experience of the music business:rolleyes:

Tell a lie about my business - my mystery shopping has netted me £90 since April which has gone into paying my business insurances as for paid work that I have invoiced then that's a big fat zero:rolleyes:

morning all, im on alittle early today as im going to be non stop all day. had my first tiara order last night wich was great so i can get that delivered today.
well my website was ment to go live last night and thn we hit a major problem, it wont upload, i paid for my webhosting a few months ago, and then we used what was classed as a free template to design te site, only when we went to upload after completly designing and finishig the site, google webhosting said it wouldnt allow it to be used on anoter server and we have to buy google hosting, it isnt expensive but its certainly something i could do without.
So husband is feeling like he let me down and im just annoyed, it could have said that from the start rather than completly free template. so im not live now, and wont be able to over the weekend as im going back to leigh tonight to spend the weekend with my parents. does anyone know of any templates that work with any hoster or how i can get round this with google?
whats even more annoying is we had figured out the basket thing through paypal as well.
Never mind other than the crash this is the first major setback we have had. i was just so excited about going live. guess ill have to stick ith my facebook business page for the time being.
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed

no it was of my facebook page i set up, i set a grace and favours page up and invited my friends and got them to invite theirs. I know its not a webpage but it helps, ive only got 25 people on it so far but already some of them are other peoples friends and last night my friend found exactly what she wanted through it. So that was an upside to last night, was just up till 12 finishing that order. My poor husband is so upset that he couldnt get me live last night cos ive been telling him for weeks to sort my site out (after asking nicley for months) but i told him he couldnt help this we just have to find a way to sort it. Going to enjoy a weekend of at blackpool though and with my mum, never know i might even bump into zoe lol

JP - what a night mare. I bet there is way round it. Look on tech forums and ask advice. My husband also writes websites - but doesn't use templates he does it from scratch so i doubt he could help on this one. Good luck.

I am having a super busy day. Last day for several articles and need to get one article written from scratch so i can send off an invoice. Should have been done several days ago...

Either I will have to work tomorrow or I will be here late - probably both!

Kids back to school next week so that is good. Love having them round but cna be abit distracting and feel guilty cause I can't take them out...too busy and too poor:(

Hi all. Well done on the order JP. I will have to go on Facebook later and recommend your page to my chums. Sorry to hear about your website too - I didnt use a template for mine as I got someone else to do it for me.

I was up and about early this morning as I had a meeting with a business mentor at the chamber of commerce (this is the guy that gave me the template for the business plan). We agreed that my business plan needs to change and we discussed pricing so I shall now charge between £25-50 an hour depending on the amount of work needed whether that is managing a band, a corporate event or a wedding (of course I can charge a bigger hourly rate if I want too). We discussed this band too (he used to be a promotor for opera singers) and decided that I would charge them a weekly retainer plus commission for any gig or record deal that they get.

I shall be getting an 0845 number too - alas it will cost me 12p a minute as the number is being diverted to my mobile - if it diverted to my landline I would jumping up and down like a sand hopper to rush and answer the phone which is in another room:rolleyes: Speaking to the chap who does the 0845 numbers was helpful as he has put me in touch with a recording studio and is putting me in touch with someone else in the music business who would be able to help me. Gee, I am getting really excited now - I am buzzin' - I am meeting the main member of the band on Tuesday (he is bringing his girlfriend with him - I felt that I had to agree to her being present otherwise he wouldnt have come on his own:rolleyes:).

I am now feeling a lot more confident - I was also told today that I am on the right track with regard to my business and that the economy should start picking up in the Spring.:j

S'pose I had better start thinking about dinner - I might go to the chippy (a treat) and have a cone portion of chips and maybe a cheese & onion fry or a piece of chicken (the chicken will last me for two meals).

Hope you have a great weekend.:D
  • Hey Horace

I got your message - sorry for the lack of response but as you will soon gather (!) working in music demands a lot of attention. I am just popping out for dinner but didn't want you think this I was being rude.

Will give you a considered reponse tomorrow.

Have a good night everyone else - see - we all made it to Friday!

    Allison
