Well done on those embarking on a self employed future! For me, the benefits easily outway the negatives. One of the biggest things I found was I missed having people to bounce ideas off...now we've got this website that's solved though!
I've been working from 9 until 2. One client bought £60 of vouchers for a friend which is great as they may become a regular client. I'm glad I got my vouchers done properly on vistaprint as it's easily paying off. I went for business card size because, although they're small, they fit in purses/wallets. I've got one for each treatment too so it looks professional.
I'm taking out daft woofit dog training today so won't be back until later. My aim is to start changing my website now it's up and running. I did a lot of the text quickly to get it live so now I want to go back over the pages and rewrite it all and really market myself a lot better. I'm hoping to start that today and finish it during the week.
Have a lovely weekend xx
Edited to add: glad things are going well for you Carrie. Are you all settled in your new place?0 -

Not yet, move in tomorrow and wont have internet for about a week which will be awkward but oh well.
Just seems odd how nothing had really happened much for me for a year and all change all of a sudden, good change thoughSave £12K in 2019 #: £0.00 / £10,000 (0%)

I too am glad that things are picking up for you Carrie.
I have been trying to have a sort out today but havent got very far:rolleyes: although I have managed to sort out some foodie mags for TCM, when I have typed up the recipes that I want to keep (I'll probably never use them:rolleyes:) then I will package them altogether and send them off.
This morning I received a magazine called Perfect Wedding because I am being asked to appear in a feature on the West Midlands - they are calling me on Monday to discuss it, I wonder how much they want to charge meYesterday I was asked if I would look over some ebooks (not yet received) and review them - these are for the Federation of Events & Wedding Planners that I am helping to set up.
I also had a call at 23.45 last night on my work mobile from a wierdo - it was male, probably as drunk as a skunk and swore blind that I was the local !!!!! house:eek: (he rang off when I then said that the call was being recorded for police purposes:rotfl:)...what a stupid eejit:rolleyes:
I need to make an appointment to see my accountant - I received a letter from the HMRC reminding me about my tax return, she is going to submit it online now that she has the codes etc...guess I had better sort my receipts into date order and clip them together because they are just shoved in a folder at the mo:rolleyes:
Guess I had better carry on with my work:rolleyes:0 -
Good luck with your move tomorrow Carrie!
Horace - I had a local eejit texting me last year for 'appointments' and 'extras'. The first text was plausable so I answered him but soon realised he was VERY dodgy. I got texts and calls on and off for around three months...always when the pubs were closing!! He kept using different numbers and names too but they were all the same style so I just ignored them. Eventually he got fed up but it did unnerve me as my DH was working away at the time. Now I have called ID on my business phone and I turn my mobile off at 8 but it's not happened since. What do they get out of it?!?!
I've just bought some more work trousers as mine were looking a little scuffy. Feel smarter now and ready to take on the world!:rotfl:0 -
You really have to wonder about people that do that, do they think you're going to say 'well I'm not but you sound so lovely come round' I mean what kind of outcome are they expecting!!
I've got nothing done today as all the drains backed up, thankfully it was just the kitchen but it doesn't smell like it, I've just been trying to clean it all up now so the smell doesn't get any worse but have given up as I'm tired and also starting to smell a bit too (and the spiders are getting bigger the more stuff I move)0 -
Off to the wedding fair in a bit.... Scared now!!!! Hope I make some sales :-)0
-
good luck mm! hope today goes well for ya! You're bound have sales your stuffs gorgeous!0

Oh dear I missed Mabel - I do hope the fair goes well, anyway I have some of her jewellery and its gorgeous and so well made:D
I don't know where blokes get off on making wierd calls - they get short shrift from me and if they are persistent then I get my old acme whistle out and blow it (yes there is really a company called acme and they are in birmingham and they make whistles).:rotfl:
I spent part of last night in PM giving advice to a photographer who had posted on the wedding forum offering his services - I havent heard from him since I said that he was too cheap and needed to charge more because the way he charged at the moment then I wouldnt use him plus I reminded him that most photographers take their own packed lunch to weddings they don't ask to be fed. I think I had better set up a business consultancy and start charging for business advice:rotfl:
Lexxie - there is nothing worse than a blocked sink but when you have unblocked it stick some bleach down it to make it smell a bit better (or even some zoflora which smells heavenly). Its the conker season so go and get yourself some conkers and put them near your doorways and on the window sill - for some reason spiders don't like them and steer clear.
This afternoon I am off to my parents - what's the betting my mother will be super critical as always (ooh look at your hair it needs a cut, haven't you put on weight, you've really let yourself go, yadda yadda yadda) for some reason she thinks that I should still weigh 7 stone which is what I weighed when I was 21 and wore size 8 clothes - i am now 47 (nearly 48) and wear size 12-14 clothes and if clothes come up small then I wear a size 16 and cut the label out:rolleyes: No wonder I have confidence issues:mad:
Hope you all have a good day..wish me luck for my parents.0 -
Hope it's gone ok with your parents Horace!
Moneymabel....can't wait to hear how it's gone, I bet you've done brilliantly as your jewellery looks beautiful xx0 -
Thankyou Horace ,Purpleroses and Mudbath :-)
It went quite well, I had over 50 entries in my prize draw (meaning 50 of your leaflets got handed out Horace) I'm suprised how busy it was seeing as the weather was so nice. It was sooo hot in the hall though everyone was complaining. I sold enough to make my stand money back so am happy with that, hopefully more will come from the cards I handed out. Met some nice people and did some 'networking'...oooh get me!!
Am now sorting through the prize draw forms and am going to email the ones that didnt win with an offer of a free garter charm if they spend £30 (sorta consolation prize!)
Am absolutely knackered now!early night I think :-)
Hope your wedding fair goes as well Horace!
ps If you look at my latest blog entry on my website you can see some photos..you will have to excuse the invasion of the mad dj!0
