Ice cream huh - I think I have one in the freezer and that's where it will stay as its too warm to take it out:rotfl:

Mabel - your website is nice although the grey lettering on the white background isnt very clear. Actually, I cant remember if I have an addresson my site - must have a look and change that this afternoon. Still I am struggling with words but now I have my second wind so will fling something together then I can email it across to the printers.

Now I am having a links page and thought about putting some other planners' details on there too - these are planners that I know and are either fellow planning students and a tutor who is also a planner. Some of us have said that we are happy to promote others as long as they are not on our patch - do you think this wise or not?
  • Hi I was just wondering if I could join? My OH and me have recently set up a business from home and I'm also a waitress in the evenings. I do all the working from home stuff, his job is finding us clients. It's early days but we've got a few so far :j

We've not got as massive debts as some, got a £12k loan and then we pay off our Tesco CC every month (cuz i make him! The 12k loan was to consolidate CCs so i wont let the Tesco one go a month without paying it off in full). We do have a fairly enormous mortgage which is unfortunately interest only :( but we also have a 1 year old sone so once he goes to school (he's at nursery three days a week at the mo) or if the business takes off we'll be able to get a repayment mortgage. Our main problem is that we spend like we did before he was born when we both had really well paid jobs (had a combined income of £75kish, now about half that) so although debts are under control, our spending isnt and our meagre savings are slowly dwindling. This is why i've started visiting this site cuz we need to get this under control.

Anyway, that's enough about (sorry for the essay). I hope everyone's well and you dont mind me posting.

    xx

I reckon as long as they aren't within about 50 miles of you (or however far your willing to travel) that it should be ok.
Thanks for feedback on the site, I did originally have the writing in black but it looked a bit harsh.

I've found working from home to be a great boon, you can get so much done and it's great to be able to see the kids so much more than being stuck in a dingy office. Admittedly, the taxes are horribly complicated, but it's all for the best. If you've taken the plunge, good on you, it's the modern way of getting all of this work done!

Hi willpower and welcome to our thread.

I know where you are coming from with regard to the spending and the setting up bit, I set up my business from the dole and my credit card has taken a bit of a hammering but not as much of a hammering if I had paid full price for adverts etc.

The key to cutting back on the personal spends is to make a shopping list and stick to it, do more home cooking and batch cooking. Keeping a spending diary too so that you can see where your money is going. Also don't consolidate because you will end up with more debt.

Good luck with the business though - what is it that you do?

Mabel - Hope I havent upset you about the pale grey wording, it looks nice on the black background but not on the white as it tends to blend in. I don't know if its just me that can't read it so well or if others have the same problem.
