Well done Mabel - that sounds really positive. I shall keep my fingers crossed that they print something.:j
Today I am going to finish my assignment (was too distracted yesterday by motorracing), am about to go to the doctors to pick up my prescription then its down to Rubery to take prescription to chemist and go to the bank. Two banks to visit today. My to do list is quite long for today and has some important things on it and no so important like shredding although when the mountain becomes too big then it will have to be done:D
Have a good day all.0 -
good luck mabel - it does sound promising. You wo9uld be surprised how much editors appreciate people who are willing to do little extras. irt all makes their job easier. I am surprised that an magazines emails system can't cope with a few photos. I wonder how they manage their advertisers images?
I have again had a quiet week. My insurance guy has confirmed that he still wants me to write for him he is just having to catch up on other work right now.
I have picked up a proof reading job as well. just another writers articles - to find any obvious mistakes. haven't charged much and hoping it will be quick and easy. Will find out if I have undeersold myself...
Had the race for life yesterday. Managed a time of 34 mins. I was disappointed but things conspired against me. Had to catch two buses to get there which meant getting up very early. Forgot to take my water so felt very dehydrated and light headed. It was hot and loads of slow [people kept getting in my way. But it was fun and the atmoshere was great.
I have also been feeling rough lately. Went to the doctor as I was concerned about my heart. Sounds weird as I am only in my 30s but it beats very slowley (around 50 beat per minute on average) and skips a beat every 3 or 4 beats. Also had some chest pains. My doctor has scheduled an ECG for thursday. Could be the running I guess? Perhaps I am just super fit?
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
Well done on the work.
Also well done with the Race for Life - you would have thought that they would have provided water for people as some folks are liable to forget their own:rolleyes:
Your heart doesnt sound too healthy, so fingers crossed for the hospital.
I contacted the FSB today to change my mind about paying by credit card (it has taken a battering lately:rolleyes:) and they emailed a direct debit form to me which has been posted. They kindly gave me my membership number as well so now I can put their logo on my website:j I also bought some car insurance from them so now my car is covered for business and personal use:j I havent paid much more than I did last year. Have remembered to send of my registration document today as well so that it can be changed to this address. Now I have the dreaded driving licence to do and that is a pain because they are asking me to send my passport in the post:eek: There is no way that I am going to let that go into the post. I will also keep a copy of my driving licence too after seeing Watchdog where they made a muck up and forced people to take their tests again:eek:
My web designers are now being given the heave ho - I did warn them that I would be looking elsewhere and it is now 2 weeks since I asked them for a quote and I am still waiting:mad: They need some customer service lessons.
As I have been racing around today - its assignment day tomorrow and if you see me on here give me a boot up the backside:D0 -
Thanks megz-yeah I wondered that about the email as well, still ,your help with wording has got me this far so thanks!
Sounds like your webdesigners don't want your business Horace-def go elsewhere they are taking the ..er...michael ;-)0 -
The cash book is free forever and is what most sole traders would need.
There is no reason why anyone on here would need to purchase the 'final accounts' they are really only for accountants doing statutory accounts for companies...and should only be used in a professional capacity.
VT transaction is free at the moment and once you have downloaded it it is on your pc. I can only think that you would need to purchase the product if you wanted to take advantage of updates or the support but its not rocket science and is easy enough to use.
Hi thanks to the above op I have down loaded the VT Cash book.
I have a question about inputting info. I have been trying all sorts of solutions but am ending up tying myself in knots
We have a holiday company and so we take deposts off clients
I bank the deposits against the bank account and input the day it is paid in so this matches up.
This is where I have the problem
The holiday may not be for a few months,
I create a customer account and credit their account with the deposit. that is the double entry
I have a rental ledger and a deposit ledger
When Mr smith arrives he pays the balance by cash or cheque.
Do I transfer the deposit to the month he is holidaying and if I should how do I do it without changing the banking date details?
I have tried so many way
Any help would be gratefully received

I have a confession - I still havent submitted my assignment:o I have been busy with other things, like getting the address details changed on my new car insurance policy because they entered it incorrectly, now they want to see a copy of my driving licence to prove that I can drive a car:eek: I have also contacted the printers with a view to shifting my website to them seeing as my current providers don't give a rat's bum about their customers:mad: I have also been typing up my web content and links page ready to hand it over on Thursday. I just need to think of something to say about corporate events.
I have also started a blog over on blogspot.com
Hope everyone is having a good day?0 -
Well done Horace very productive day! Especially as I have a vested interest in the links page lol.
Bit of a downer today as I emailed two other wedding mags last night but have had no reply . Oh well. Need to get out delivering some flyers.0 -
Magazines can be pretty horrid - mind you I had an email today from someone offering me some space in a magazine (although I think its an online thing). I will copy and paste the details here.

I know they have said that the email is purely for me but I have never advertised with them, in fact I don't think I have even looked at their website:rolleyes:
I am trying to think of some words to say about corporate events other than to say call me for a quotation. I am not in the mood for my assignment although I am still conducting research for it.
Have a great day all.0 -
Wish I knew who was worth advertising with-am reluctant to spend money but I know i'll have to start :-(!!
Does anyone know if I need to have my address on my website? I am a sole trader. The question has been asked on the small biz thread but no straight answers have been given!0 -
mm i think you should have your address on your site (which i really like btw). trading standards made a fuss last year up here saying you need addresses and contact details on leaflets/cards/websites etc even if you're online based. (But I could be wrong and you don't need it!)
Its so hot today! Went and bought an ice cream, was very nice0
