:grouphug: sorry to hear that you have been visited by a !!!!!! - it seems to be the month for them:rolleyes: Glad you got the generator back though.
I have some news and I am feeling rather chuffed with myself - my advert has gone into Your West Midlands Wedding magazine which goes on sale tomorrow in WHSmith and Menzies. I also appear in the editorial in the useful contacts list as well as discussing wedding invitation management and choosing the venue - how this is one of my favourite parts of organising a wedding:j The only thing missing from the ad is my heart logo but I am not too fussed about that as the ad still looks great without it (less is more as they say).
On Thursday 4 June - I am attending a showcase event at Hagley Hall which has been organised by Worcestershire County Council, this is for people who organise corporate events and conferences and is to showcase the businesses of Worcestershire and their food. This is a great networking event and another way of sourcing some fantastic venues.
Hope you have a grand day and that you get to enjoy the lovely sunshine.
well done horace on your ad. you keeping busy which is the main thing
my website is now online but waiting for a couple of more things to go
on the site, and hopefully climb up the google rankings!
good luck

Thanks Dave
I made a decision today - I was given £50 of capital bond vouchers by More Than for taking out some Public Liability insurance and I have decided to spend it in Argos and buy a nice two door cabinet for my office. I know what they're like as a friend has furnished his swanky office with furniture from Argos (mind you he does pay £1000 a month plus VAT to rent the office space:eek:). My office is in desperate need and although the the cupboard won't take my A4 folders standing up - I will just put them in flat instead.
I need to get some meta tags and sort out my website on the whole - in fact I am already thinking of moving it to a different host but part of me wants to hang on because of the amount of money forked out but the other part of me wants me to be able to update it when I chooose without it costing me £30 per page plus VAT each time.:rolleyes:
Good luck with your business Dave - I am sure it will go really well.0 -
Hi all
Have been following the thread but havent posted in a while ....Things are so hectic. DH has got work which is good, has work until the end of June so I'm trying to save a few pennies while we can.
Going to phone up about having a table at one of the local table top sales (costs £8) I need to sell 20 cards to cover the table, think I should be able to do that. MIL said she'll come to to help with Daisy. You never know if I dress her in very cute clothes, she might attract some customers!! (Daisy not MIL btw) :rotfl::rotfl:
Also going to see a lady about a cleaning job tomorrow morning, again with Daisy! See a pattern here?? DH always at work, Daisy attached to me at all times!!Its 3-4 hours a week £8 an hour! Very good, my mum could have her then. So fingers crossed everyone!
Hope everyone else is ok. Wordsmith-so sorry to hear about the rotten !!!!!! that broke into your home. Hope you're feeling abit better soon. Could you have a dog to act as a guard dog?

Sorry to hear about your car Horace and your van wordsmith-i live in a mobile home so sympathise with you, I have a dog but she is not exactly a guard dog..she would probably invite burglars in and share her biscuits with them lol0 -
Work is really slow at the moment -very frustrating. I can get by for now but I was hoping to be able to put some by for periods like this in the future and that doesn't look too likely at the moment. I need new clients!ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0

Morning all
Just wanted to pick someones brain..... If I delivered cards to someones home/drove into town to drop brochures and it was a special trip out JUST for the card side of things. Could I claim mileage?? 40p per mile? Would I have to make a note of date, journey to and from etc?
Hope someone knows the answer!

Morning!
Dippykitty, I know the frustrations! I was really busy up until Tuesday of this week and now it has slowed away down and I find it really demoralising yet I can do nothing about it! I keep hoping the nice weather will bring people out.
Lou - I think you should be able to claim your mileage ok so long as you keep an expenses book or something similar.
Wordsmith - have you a gate or anything or a high fence around your mobile? Would maybe deter the barstewards from coming back - I can't imagine how horrible you must be feeling.
My OH has taken to renovating the house and it is also very frustrating. I'm exhausted working a 6 day week in the shop with no breaks and don't want to have to start at 8pm at night clearing up the mess he has made during the day - tried to tell him that but it fell on deaf ears. He's just off the phone ranting because he can't find the thing for scraping wallpaper off (it was the de-ice scraper for the freezer) and of course its my fault because I don't put things back in their place. Ho hum.0 -
Lou- yes that should be right, if I go to visit a shop that stocks my jewellery I just write down the date , where I've been and the number of miles . All those 40ps add up!0

Can I ask you lovely people for a bit of advice? I emailed a wedding magazine asking how they chose their jewellery to be featured and they emailed back saying to send them images. Its a very posh wedding magazine..made by the publishers of vogue - so I am a bit stumped on how to word the return email.I presume that if they decided to use any of my jewellery that I would have to send them a sample so they could photograph it-should I say in the email that I am willing to send them jewellery or does that sound a bit presumptous?
Just really dont know how to go about it-any ideas??thanks0 -
Hello Money Mabel, Do you have a website? I would direct them to that pointing out the items you would like to feature and then ask them how they like to proceed if they would like to feature you in an upocoming magazine.
If not then they need to see the items before they go ahead with anything so you will need to take some good photos. I would have thought that they would want you to provide professional photos yourself if they are featured.
Don't be embarrassed about asking how they work. They will get this all the time. Just do as they have asked for now and they will let you know how to proceed if they decide to use you.
I would word it like this.
Thankyou for your kind reply. I have enclosed photos of the items I would like to feature (or a link to the website) for your attention.
Please advise how you would like to proceed regarding the photography of the items should you wish to feature them.
etc
Nice and simple - magazine people do not like anything too wordy they don't have the time. I would thin they have a set proceedure and will expect you to follow it. They proabaly have a set email they send out to evryone in your position explaining exactly how it works.
Good luck!0
