Ticklemouse wrote:arkonite-babe: my oven only has 2 shelves and I desperately missed a third. However, when having a mooch around Aldi's (or was it Lidl ;o) one day I saw an expanding oven tray. It cost about £3.50 and I use it as my 3rd shelf. It's none stick so I usually put stuff straight on it. It's the size of a normal oven tray when compressed but does expand quite wide enough to fit a big oven
They were one of their 'Thursday specials', but now you know they are out there - you may be able to keep a look out.
(BTW - it was lovely and none-stick all over until MIL decided to wash it at Xmas. She used a knife to remove the stuck on bits which were steeping. So, one end looks a bit like a zebra now )
Sounds a bit like when our Gran used to do the washing up, my mother did have nice non stick pans at one point but then...“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

Sorry to hear that ark, it can be a tricky one. if you can't locate the thingy recommended by TM and Katgoddess, you could try using a couple of cake tins on the floor of your oven to put a baking/roasting tray onto and use as a "lower" shelf.arkonite_babe wrote:My SC is invaluable as it means I can set the timer switch to come on after we have all left for work in the morning, tea is ready for us all coming home in the evening. I plan ahead and make as much as possible this way. Some mornings I leave for work at 5am so it's the only way I can have a hot meal ready for everyone. I wouldn't be without mine and if it wasn't for OS I would never have found out about the virtues of SC's :T)
But then I don't believe the essense of the original post came down to one or the other as a preference, but as a priority.
I've really enjoyed this thread, and it's certainly made me chuckle~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
