Is the UK more racist than other countries?

This country has never been “multicultural”, the Romans and Vikings came and largely went, 250,000 was the most the Normans ever had on British soil, which necessitated their barbarity to keep control, and not all of them stayed. You only have to look at any 1950’s news reel of London to see the vast difference in only the last 50 years.
Regardless of the protestations of an undemocratic minority, the vast majority of us are heartily sick of what our country has become. We see sensible countries like Holland recalling parliament and severely curtailing immigration due to problems, other countries like Canada ensuring companies prove that skilled Canadians cannot be found before employing foreigners or Australia letting only certain skills in.
Our fathers and grandfathers, who sacrificed a lot in two world wars and would have expected some loyalty from the state in return, not for Gloucester police to be done for illegally rejecting better applications from Englishmen just because they are English and Men.
Apart from the 1960’s there have never been enough decent jobs to go round. Whole counties like Cornwall have masses of people that are desperate for work and if there was really an oversupply of jobs the Government could move public sector jobs to those places, rather than import workers, saving the taxpayer the cost of feeding and housing large numbers of them. There are enough memorials in towns and villages saying “We will never forget” but they do seem to have.
You only have to look at the usual suspects on Crimewatch to realise that imports from crime ridden countries, where life is cheap, may not be a good idea and we all know I don’t mean Chinese without even perusing any statistics.
Did our politicians not notice the upheaval when India had to be partitioned, why would we want what the Indians themselves were forced to reject? Now we have that problem at great expense.
Polls show the majority don’t want the levels of immigration we have and in a democracy that should be enough. I fear it is too late now and the large growing % of population, now completely at odds with government on Immigration and Crime, feel disenfranchised wanting only to looking after their own families now and put nothing into the country that is betraying them.
Dervish . is that you with a new name, old chap?0 -
Not Dervish, just me, I just thought the thread was not very representative of what I hear around me, Falmouth to Formby, for the last few decades. It is pretty pointless to go on about it though as people have decades of real, to them, experiences which are impossible to convey to others, who in turn have their own experiences.0

Immigrants in Britain are here for one reason only - to better there lives. No-one can blame them but they want to isolate themselves and choose to put nothing back into society.
Parallels can be drawn to the asians thrown out of Uganda. Idi Amins words in 1972 to the leaders of the Indian community living there was That they had " all milked the cow without feeding it". That is true of Britain today.0 -

You know, if you challenged me to put six sweeping, pointless generalisations in to a post of less than 100 words I would really struggle. You've done a fine job though. Well done.0 -
Britain is not as racist as other countries one country comes to mind but it is st patricks day. We as humans are tribal so its not racist to not want to live next door to black/Irish/Indian and so on. I'm of Irish desent by the way. Back in the 50s 60s No Irish No Blacks No Dogs signs were put up.I think in a whole it was not knowing the unknown and the fear that they are coming over taking are jobs Women e.t.c. It is as humans we are still very primative and still have our tribal instincts. Also it does not help when there is high profile crime like bomings Irish/muslims. Drugs black/east europeans. Yes there are whites doing the same but this is about british racism if any.NO!MY NAME IS NOT WORZELIM JUST FEELING SLIGHTLY ROUGH TODAY0

Your chosen name on here is very apt. It's not often one looks to Idi Amin as a reasonable, rational role model for leadership. You, sir, are a true original or at least you would be if your thinking wasnt so p**s poor.0 -
LOL at anyone who thinks the UK is racist...have you ever lived in France?!
I'd be interested in hearing of any country that has a more open immigration policy and a more disapproving overall view of racism, not only in official policy but in public discourse. Possibly Canada?
Imagine those scenes with the Muslims in Luton happening in ANY other country in the world. In some places, those men would have been torn limb from limb by the crowd. In the UK, our police protect them and the only arrest made is of a white man. I'm not suggesting they should have acted differently; just that I doubt many Spanish, French or Italian policemen would have done the same.
What do you think would happen to a group of white Christians that had tried that in a Muslim country?'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -

Furthermore ""asians," he said, in front of a sea of beaming black Ugandans, most of whom wore military uniforms, "have kept themselves to themselves and as a community have refused to integrate with Africans. Their main interest has been to exploit the economy. They have been milking our economy for years and now I say to them all - Go!"
Is that not true of most immigrants or are they of some benefit, to which I am unaware.
I am not a BNP thug. I have lived in London for all of my 60 years. In that time I have watched all the E1 -E17 districts change ethnically.
I would just like to be told how I as an Englishman living in England benefit from this mass immigration.
You've had your pop at me, now give me an answer to my question.0 -

There seems to be an ingrained bad feeling between not only the Scots/Welsh/English but even northerners and southerners!! I don't know if this happens abroad - does northern France slag off southern France?
When you see those "Daily Mail type" stories about "Immigrant turns up at airport with 6 kids and gets house/££££ benefits/free kidneys blah blah blah" well of course it grates but I would be horrified if I saw families left to starve in the gutter because they were "foreign". Why does our media always pick on the tiny percent who do leech when there are far more who don't? And why do we buy their papers and believe it all?
There was a story in the Mail (admittedly not about money but just an example of attitude) about an illegal immigrant possibly infecting 400+ women with HIV - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1085446/HIV-illegal-immigrant-infected-400-women.html
Yes it's a awful story but why is it necessary to mention his nationality? It isn't really relevant other than to inflame readers into thinking "If he hadn't been let in it wouldn't of happened", but the real issue is anyone with an STD should use condoms, as should anyone sleeping with a stranger. Do other countries newspapers run stories of this type?
Sorry for the rant but with all the current woes I think we need to focus on real issues instead of blaming the "outsiders"!
Personally, I think we have become far too tolerant of smug little people looking at new ways to indulge in self flagellation.
Humans are an agressive species of monkey with a natural tendency to form tribal groups. Groups aligned along grounds of race are a common and inevitable manifestation of this characteristic. Racism will never be eliminated any more than preferences and prejudices can be removed from the human psyche. We are probably about as non racist as ever have been or ever will be.
Another aspect of humans is their extrodinary contraryness (especially in the young). On this score, the constant drone of the anti racist fanatics probably does more harm than good.
I would prefer that people promoted civilised behaviour through good example rather than becoming self appointed agents of the 'Thought Police'.0 -

Yep, I hear it gets harder and harder to get a good bagel nowadays, but that the samosas are great.
Caveman, I am a strong supporter of British culture, I think we under represent ourselves and our cultural pursuits, but trying to get men morris dancing is a nightmare, and jellied eels don't do it for me. I'd like to see us be proud of our own things, but that doesn't mean insulation from others. I rather think our embracing of others and new to us things is one of the great things about Britain.0
